If you know any cultural variations sweet fried dough answer my question at the bottom!!⬇️
Loukomades 😍 🇬🇷 I’m not sure why it took me so long to get my hands on these Greek fried dough wonders but I am SO glad I finally did. They’d been on my radar forever thanks to @foodiemuse. Visiting Greece is on my bucket list, but If we don’t make it to Greece just yet, Astoria has the loukomades drizzled in honey you can imagine. Similar to a zeppole it’s Italian cousin, but slightly chewier dough? Either way, perfect. These were from @omoniacafe.
This has inspired a new bucket list. Doughnuts are 100% my favorite sweet, and I want to try more cultural variations. Of course there are zeppole, churros, buñuelos, fried mochi, but I am certain there are SO many more. A lot of times fried dough is associated with holidays of celebration which is also fun. For example growing up the only time we ate buñuelos was at Noche Buena (Christmas Eve).
Long story short, what other kinds of fried dough can I try?! Even better if you know any spots in queens!
