This is a @theStormyDaniels appreciation post. Stormy was recently arrested, in spite of the fact that she did not commit a crime, due to a politically-motivated set-up. The charges were dropped almost instantly, so luckily she’s fine. This woman receives some of the most heinous, misogynistic, sex-negative, hateful messages from thousands of people with extreme frequency, and she handles it so well, letting it all roll off her like water off a duck’s back. Rudy Giuliani claimed that any woman who sells her body has no value and deserves no respect...this coming from a man who is a known adulterer and undoubtedly has hired escorts (who would fuck him otherwise?). This kind of thinking is indicative of a wider problem we have in American culture: the idea that a woman’s value is determined by her sex life.
Slut-shaming is just another patriarchal tool used to demean and oppress women. Don’t be fooled by it! Here’s the truth: No one is defined by their sex life, and there is nothing wrong with sex, as long as it is consensual. A thirty-year-old woman who is a virgin is no more valuable or more deserving of respect than a woman of the same age who has sex with multiple new men every week. Sex is one of the great parts of life, and no one should ever be ashamed of partaking in it, no matter the frequency or number of partners.
Stormy Daniels is an independent, intelligent, empowered, hardworking woman, and she deserves respect for that. Sex work is real work. It should be legal across the board, not just in the porn industry. If someone chooses to be a sex worker, and they are happy with that, more power to them! I thank Stormy for all she’s doing to help take down the predator-in-chief. She’s a badass, and she has all my respect!
