JAY ADAMS - Santa Monica California 1977 at the infamous Dog Bowl.
I haven’t posted one of my old photos in a few weeks since i was on the road and wanted to share about the MY RULES exhibitions coming up in the next year(s) and reminding you all about my books that you should own if you follow this account and like it at all. BUT, lets get into this photograph now.
Can you look at this photo and understand the motherfucking aggression and style peaking at this moment in time that i attempted to frame and compose? Jay Adams is not waiting for me to do all that, he’s just doing what he does and i needed to figure out how to make it work on film for others to attempt to comprehend. Do you fucking get it? I sure as fuck do when i see this, front wheel out of frame, pool furniture on the deck, mansion in the background... this is BLUE TILE OBSESSION peaking in 1977. Jay’s Z-Flex board only 7 inches wide barely 30 inches long with barely any kick tail flat top, narrow trucks, Power Flex wheels, and he is just ripping the shit out of the coping, the board and our entire world at the time, slicing through so many levels of stoke. I had to make these photos to share at the time so others could see what the fuck i was witnessing, to blow there minds and expand thinking, i had no fucking idea they would still inspire FORTY YEARS later... but i love this shit. And if you’re a skater you do too. If you are into skateboarding as a trend of fashion you don’t know anything about this . #realTalk #caption #noShit #FuckOff #Stoked #SkateBoarding #ForTheLove #Ride #Inspiration #integrity #PunkAsFuck #beforeAnyone Knew #culture #progression #NaturalProgression #Radical #RadicalPolitics #FuckConservitives #seriosly #ifYouDontLikeItBuBye #Think #educateyourself #peace #love #movingForward #DogTown #ZBoys #Zephyr This photograph appeared in my book FUCK YOU TOO (now rare and out of print) Go check out the book JAY BOY at your fave bookstore or at Amazon.com - a must for any Jay Adams fan- incredible - Jay’s life in photos by his step father before the fame
