For those who stand up for what they believe...learning to not take the criticisms from others too personally can be a dubious, painful, arduous task. And yet we must persevere.
On this summer solstice we are working with the blooms of oxeye sunflower (Heliopsis helianthoides), a prairie plant native to North America. ‘Heliopsis’ is from the Greek word helios for "sun" and opsis for "appearance." The sun itself is a symbol across time and geography, for many things. In astrological medicine it is believed to govern over the heart and solar plexus, an energetic place in the body where we allow other’s energy to enter. Where we have our ‘gut feelings’ about things. Where we can feel ‘gutted’ when something tragic happens. Where our center of gravity lies.
We are creating a flower remedy from oxeye sunflower to cultivate awareness about what we let in...to understand how it influences ego consciousness that ultimately drives our decisions and behaviors. To help those of us who stand up even against the force of others hurtful criticisms... Stand up, like this nymph bush katydid.
