This is Cindy. I call her my gym mom. She always has an extra towel for when I forget mine. When I forget my shampoo, she always comes in clutch. She bought me the lock for my locker, because I "gave her anxiety leaving my stuff unprotected." Upon mentioning my love for mystery novels, she brought me a bag of books by her favorite author, because she wanted to share the love. She never fails to build me up when she sees that I'm clearly crumbling down...
Cindy has battled, and overcome breast cancer. She's had back surgery once, and is preparing herself to go back for a second, and much higher risk surgery. She's shared her past with me and let me tell you, that woman is tough as nails. When I asked what kept her going, she said "Nothing is just handed to you. If I didn't keep moving, I'd be wasting what life I have left. I'd be in a wheelchair and miserable, or dead if I would have given up, so I won't give up now."
She shows up consistently. I see her on her good days, and her bad ones. What she doesn't know is that she inspires me daily.
Cindy is 58.
