A Misty Spur.
Valentines Peak is quite a stunning walk. After some delightful flatter forest walking through swampy tea-tree and eucalyptus, including a river crossing, the track picks up the steep spur which is pretty unrelenting. The treeline is sudden and the open ridge exposes you to the elements, which can be merciless.
On this occasion my outdoor recreation class could hear the roaring southerly overhead as we approached the open ridge, but in the trees it was virtually calm and the mist swirled peacefully around and past us as we trudged uphill.
