Leaving Bellingham was more emotional than I had expected. I was more than ready to go, I thought. Ready to spend a week on the road, going wherever the wind took me, and then up to Glacier National Park where I would be working for the summer. And yet I found tears in my eyes as I crossed from Whatcom to Skagit County. Here I was, completely alone, heading east and it was just about the most wonderful and terrifying thing I could think of. Not knowing what is coming is scary. Not knowing what is coming is freeing. Blasting music with the windows down driving down winding roads, running through the warm rain to take photos, driving for miles up empty forest service roads hoping to find a decent campsite and not get stranded. This is the life, and I have no idea what is coming next.
