I never do these because my physique fluctuations are rather minor these days, but since Im stuck in a blackout with nothing but time... here’s a little [long] story.
I started my fitness journey at the end of 2007. I was “skinny fat”; around 120lbs with low muscle density. I always admired women with muscular physiques, but didn’t have the knowledge or guidance to get there. Admittedly, I was still enjoying my clubbing days... living on sugary energy drinks and late night diner trips, where disco fries were my 3am meal choice.
2007: Started lifting weights, eating clean, educating myself and aligning with people in the bb community.
2008: Attended my first bb shows and was in awe of the beautiful figure women who graced the stage.
2009: NPC announced the new bikini division and I decided to prep for the first show in NJ that year [now the John Kemper Classic].
I competed 2009-2011, including 1st place at my 2nd local show, which qualified me for nationals. I competed the following year at Jr Nationals (1st- Bikini Class A ), then again a month later at Team U (2nd). The following year I did Jr USAs (4th) and Jr Nationals (10th). I started prepping in 2012, but then life circumstances took over and I decided to take a break. —
In 2012, prior to prep, my weight was my highest ever (almost 140). For comparison, Im 5’1” and competed between 104-107lbs. Even though I made the decision to take a break from shows, I wasn’t happy with myself, took matters into my own hands and got back down to 119 in 2013. Since then Ive fluctuated in the lower 120s, which... can make me content or disappointed depending on the day.
One thing that hasnt changed is my commitment to continue lifting heavy, while managing a reasonable diet. My brain is too anxious to the whole bulk and cut thing so - for my own sanity - I could never bring myself to do a formal weight gain for the sake of adding muscle. Im still not where I wanna be, but I continue to work daily toward my goals of enjoying the gym, embracing the process and balancing life. —
Today (last photo), Im somewhere in the mid 120s [not exactly sure because...
