They deserve education. They deserve the better. They are just children. They need to be in class to learn. They need to know their bill of rights. Because, THEY DON'T KNOW" and you know why?? Because their parents did not go to school either. This causes a lot of problems in the community. Such as Poverty. Deadly culture practices to young girls and women, Female genital mutilation (FGM). And less awareness on formal education. It is estimated 90% of Maasai people are not able to read and write. Many young boys fail to continue with studies because of assignments at home of herding livestock which is considered to be the most important than school. Likewise, girls are facing a lot of challenges such as early marriages and workloads (fetching of water, taking care of young children, collecting fire wood, cooking and milking) which is contributing to the high rate of drop out.
I am raising my voice as a representative from my community. Maybe i might get heard somewhere someday. But all I know is, this people needs education. @unitednations @unicef @unicefusa @unicef_uk @ubongotz @forwarduk_ @unwomen @savethechildren @womenforwomen #stopfgm #stop #harmfulculture
