MENTORSHIP My role as a mentor means the world to me. This year I was set an endurance challenge by @specialk_uk and @womenshealthuk as part of it, I’ve been mentoring Cecilia to complete the challenge of running her first 5km, kickstarting her fitness journey after having a baby 6 months ago. She smashed it!
We spoke regularly about how to stay motivated through training and the challenge itself, but these 3 q’s really stood out, as I’m sure many of you will relate:
1. How do you keep going when you want to stop?
When you want to stop, ask yourself “Do I want to be the person that quits when it gets hard, or the one who keeps going?” Endurance is something we cultivate and nurture every day, both mentally and through nutrition. Each time you do something that you previously thought “there’s no way I can do that” you prove to yourself you CAN, you believe in yourself more and dare yourself to raise the bar. When you cross the finish line, you’ll find out who you are and believe in yourself more. Find out what's #PoweringYou! ~
2. As a Mum, life can get in the way. What happens if I can’t stick to my training schedule?
Don’t worry if you can’t make a session, focus on doing what you can when you can and don’t stress yourself out. You are doing this to give back to YOU and make yourself proud! We don’t want this to become something that adds pressure or stress to your life
3. What’s the best tip you can give me to motivate myself through this challenge?
Forget about the time and just have fun! The human body and mind are an incredible force combined and it’s truly amazing to prove to yourself how strong and powerful you are. Grab this opportunity with both hands!
