For a brand that is associated with making tools for creative people, I would expect nothing less in creativity from Faber-Castell, a pioneering brand, one of the largest and oldest pencil manufacturers in the world. Here, Turkish agency FCB Art Group visualizes the Faber Castell range of pens, with the copy 'Fast & Fluent', the payoff you get from an instrument that's there to help you express yourself on paper quickly, and flowing flawlessly. Good use of metaphoric visuals such as the jet, while cleverly integrating it with the product itself. So realistic, I actually would expect to buy a pen exactly like this, hoping that I would be able to hold it well enough with that design, to express myself on paper in a "fast & fluent" manner. 🖊️

The sheer magnitude of the extremities of Africa's business environment, and the massive opportunities the continent presents, requires a bank that is strong and innovative enough to drive Africa's businesses. South African multinational bank Standard Bank shows that they're up to the challenge in this film ad which depicts the industries it supports across the continent, effectively communicating its responsiveness to Africa's ever-changing demands for new and better banking products and services. Financial services ads are mostly predictable, even this one, which reminds me of Barclays Bank's 'A Big World needs a big bank' - boasting of Barclays' global presence. Well, Standard Bank is not as global as Barclays, but their boast is in claiming to know Africa better than any other 'global bank'. A predictable but well executed ad for an African audience, and possibly also for any organization eyeing the lucrative African business environment and needing an Africa-centred bank.

You're not fully 'woke' without a cup of McCafe - the 'Wake Up Cup' - I must admit the copywriting here was absolutely excellent, playing on the rhyme of 'wake up' and 'cup' - the kind of copy that can make for a potentially catchy catchphrase that can be used in everyday life when referring to someone who's having a lousy morning, perhaps after a very late night, and doesn't quite have their faculties up to scratch. Such a person might need "a wake up cup" to get them back in gear for the tasks at hand. Nothing very fancy or creative about the artwork, but the copy's got a lot of potential for other executions, especially with film ads, depicting situations where someone could really do with a wakeup cup to save their job.

When it comes to visually communicating messages, McDonald's seldom disappoints. This latest print ad shows you how to make the most of 1 Emirati Dirham, the basic monetary unit of the UAE. The ad depicts a 1 Dirham coin, with the number '1' (wahed) in Arabic topped with ice cream, advertising the 1 Dirham ice cream cone. A quick, powerful, easy to remember and effective way to communicate the message, and a gentle reminder that everytime you whip out your wallet and pull out an AED 1 coin, you could get a tasty, creamy treat with it at McDonald's. A refreshing thought and well-timed for the summer, when you could really do with a 1-Dirham ice cream in the 40-degree-celsius heat!

From faking twin pregnancies, injuries and trying to impress check-in staff, many a passenger would do anything to upgrade their seat on a flight. In this humorous ad campaign, Emirates boasts of its luxurious economy class cabins that would make asking for an upgrade kinda greedy. Having flown Emirates a number of times, I kinda resonate with this ad. Emirates Airline's wide bodied fleet, with a stylish, comfortable interior make other economy class cabins feel like a ride on a bus. Well executed by one of the world's best airlines. ✈️
