Meet Jade Folawiyo

Jade Folawiyo graduated from Central Saint Martins where she studied Product Design. Living and growing up in London her family originates from Nigeria and her work brings together her experience of two cultures. She is inspired by the way in which di erent cultures share ideas and practices and o en looks at mixing traditional and contemporary influences.
Her work focuses on accessories for the home produced in ceramic, glass or metal with a key focus on working with local artisans and reinterpreting traditional techniques.
Having taken time to work in Italy from as a Product Designer for Fabrica’s Design department. She has since been selected to be a Designer in Residence with the Design Museum in 2011, producing a collection of Metal Lampshades that she presented to the Queen. Her Lampshades have since been included in the collection of pieces selected to showcase ‘Six decades of art and design in London’ to celebrate e Queen’s Diamond Jubilee at Valentine House in 2012.
The Thames Hudson book; ‘Contemporary Design Africa’ by Tapiwa Matsinde features Jade’s Ile Tableware collection that mixes the use of porcelain and calabash, promoting a Nigerian British fusion. Jade is passion about promoting Nigerian design on a global scale.

Hicham Lahlou, figurehead of the Moroccan national design in the world, one of the main leaders of international African design is an emblematic figure of the new generation design, has been part of the new design sphere for more than two decades. His refined creations are always impregnated with cultural and identity references, subtly integrated into modern lines and it is his very personal touch that allowed him to be noticed in this environment as elitist as codified.
Often called as the spearhead of contemporary design in Morocco, He has not only become a recognized design personality on the African continent and the Arab world but also one of the great signatures of the world design which signs collections for prestigious international brands, develops lines of street furniture, Sign of concepts for hotels, illustrates his talent as an artist, interior designer, product designer and graphic designer in brand identity, packaging, but also commercial architecture as well as strategic design.
It forged himself a name in the design of furnitures, tableware and objects by signing collections for major international brands such as DAUM, Ecart International, Lip, Aquamass, Airdiem, or Nodus Rug.
A visionary who defends values of progress and undertakes actions to promote the values of design and creation in general.
His creations, regularly exhibited in museums such as the Vitra Design Museum, Guggenheim Bilbao, Kunsthal Rotterdam or the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, half way between design and contemporary art make the designer a recognized artist both for his unique pencil touch and his work on the lines but also for his innovative artistic biases.
Highly publicized in the print media, television and digital networks, he regularly appears in prestigious publications around the world, often considered among the global leaders of the African continent, the most prominent innovators in Africa and in the world as well as guest jury in several international competitions such as the Star of Science Session 2 in Qatar as a VIP Jury.

Meet Eva Sonaike

Eva Sonaike is a London-based interiors and lifestyle brand creating luxurious textiles, home décor and accessories with a distinctive and vibrant West-African aesthetic. The company’s ethos 'Bringing Colour to Life' is reflected in its signature collections of cushions, bags, stationery, fabrics and furnishings using textiles designed by Eva Sonaike, combined with the finest velvets and leathers. Emphasis is placed on hand finishing, distinct designs and high quality manufacturing.

Creative Director Eva Sonaike graduated with an MA in Fashion Journalism from the London College of Fashion, where she specialised in contemporary African fashion and textiles.
She then pursued an editorial career working as UK
Fashion Editor for Hubert Burda Media for six years, working for titles such as German Elle, InStyle and Focus.
Driven by her enormous passion for African fabrics and interior design, she set up the company in 2009 with the mission of bringing the vibrancy of African colours and aesthetics to the luxury home- décor and accessories market.
