I strongly believe in being a lifetime learner! I am also a strong believer in multitasking! I spend a lot of my time listening to audiobooks while I tackle mundane tasks around the house. I’m currently relistening to The Compound Effect. If you have not picked this one up, you should! I cry multiple times while listening to it & it’s exactly the slap in the face that I need sometimes.
-FMS-

Let me ask you... how is your mindset right this moment? Are you glass half full or are you glass half empty? The world is created by the thoughts in your mind. Your attitude is everything ... EVERYTHING!! Even if things are not going your way, even if things just seem to be miserable I challenge you to chose happy above all else. I challenge you today to chose to see the bright side in life. It is pretty freeing when you know that you can actually decide the thoughts in your mind. YOU HAVE THE POWER TO CHOSE HAPPY THOUGHTS! The mind is a battlefield and the enemy will always try to mess with your thoughts. It is up to you to be a warrior and chose to fight those negative thoughts! Comment below: What thought process are you flipping to be a positive one?
WHAT I’VE LEARNED
(Fitness & otherwise)
You’re never so advanced that you can’t go back to the basics. The basic compound moves like squats, deadlifts, and pull-ups will always be necessary and a staple in my workouts. Because they are compound moves, they target more than one muscle and make it easier to progressively overload your muscles. Also, less scientifically.. they make you feel like a true weightlifter, even if you’ve still got lots to learn.
Photography is much harder than people will give it credit for.
I’ll just leave this here. People- photo quality is hard.
If i focus on my hamstrings, it’s much easier for me to balance on one leg.
Strange little tidbit I found out, but I have terrible (slowly improving) balance and it helps!
Student spotlight on Mike! Mike is the student everyone wants and the friend that everyone should have. He constantly strives to be better in body and spirit and uses each day as a way of developing himself more. He's kind and honest, loyal and fun-loving. In asana, he pushes himself to the very limits of his abilities and laughs heartily when he falls. We've had him in our community for four years and he's become a good friend in the process. #yogafriends#studentspotlight#alwaysgrowing#backbend#wheelpose#communityyoga#sweetflowyoga
Everything I’ve been through has brought me to where I am today. All the good and bad, pain and joy, it has all taught me something and although there are many things I’m not proud of doing, I don’t have any regrets because I’ve learned from it all. Even at times of weakness I am strong enough to get through it and be grateful for everything and everyone I have today! #alwaysgrowing#begrateful#blessed
We are having A DAY over here folks! (I know this picture doesn’t look like it, that’s because the only 2 things that have made him stop screaming this morning are 1. a whole sheet of graham crackers, and 2. seeing himself on my phone ) I’ve stuck my headphones in and my plan is to just power through by listening to audiobooks and podcasts
I have a few awesome personal development podcasts I love, but does anyone have any good parenting podcast recommendations?? While Mr Crankypants is growing teeth, I’ll grow ME and my mindset. #alwayslearning#alwaysgrowing
Everything is trainable. But that does not mean that everyone will request or accept the training, put in the hard work or have as much grit as those who are high performing. Everyone is capable of success. And everyone can win at life. We all have struggled at some point. But we all have the ability to overcome that struggle. We just have to choose to learn, grow, and put in the work. #lovethislife#growthmindset#personaldevelopment#alwayslearning#alwaysgrowing#makeitagreatday
"Fear is a manipulative emotion that tricks us into leading boring lives". -Unknown
We all have fear. And the truth is it never goes away. The trick is learning to act in spite of it.
If I had listened to my fears I would probably still be holed up in an office somewhere or married to a sugar daddy hahaha. I still remember the voices of my friends and loved ones 'Are you nuts?' 'People would kill for your job, you can't just give it up.' 'There is nothing better out there than this.' or my personal favorite 'You need to get married before you get too old and no one wants you.' hahaha.
So you see guys it wasn't that I didn't have fear, it was that I was more afraid of my life staying the same than I was of leaping into the unknown. I leapt, and a net appeared.
I have a secret for you guys. All the magic in my life has occurred when I am OUTSIDE MY COMFORT ZONE.
Here's me scuba diving for the first time and scared out of my mind. Breathing under water was definitely outside the comfort zone of this New Yorker. But I pushed through the fear, and you know what? It was INSANE.
How do you interact with your comfort zone? Do you stay warm and cozy, and then when nothing changes in your life you wonder why?
What can you do today to get outside of your comfort zone? Can't wait to hear from you!
This transformation isn't just about flexibility, it's about how much space I've created for myself. Sometimes that shows up physically, like in this photo, but often the most significant growth we experience is internal.
PS- Come create your own space with me tonight @transcendsa from 6-7pm with a power hour of yoga !
My clients often question whether I practice yoga, or if it is something they should partake in. I can say for two reasons ~ The importance I stress on 3 dimensional diaphragmatic breathing, and how we should connect it with movement (whether it be dynamic movements throughout the warmup or loading primal patterns such as the squat or deadlift). ‘
As humans we are born breathing into the diaphragm, however for a big percentage of the general population it must be retaught. Same goes for movement patterns such as the squat and deadlift! Pay attention to a toddlers breathing along with their movement milestones such as squatting to pick things up; notice how they breath big into the belly and have a perfect squat! Working with the right fitness professional will not only get you to re learn your body, but will provide the right movement/mobility guidance that’ll compliment your strength program. ‘
To Answer the question, I appreciate yoga for always keeping breathing and movement the main focus. However we should take some time in learning the body and how to cater to our mobility AND stability specifically, through movement. Feel free to reach out with any questions and I will do my best to assist you ~ or I’ll put you in the direction of someone who can! Some of my go to podcasts. What are some of your favorites?
Do you struggle fitting meditation into your routine? 🧘🏼♀️
There was a time where I meditated every day, sometimes for an hour or more. But for the past year - I have filled books worth of excuses as to why NOT to meditate.
‘It’s not for me, I don’t need it’ ‘it’s more important that I update my Instagram’ ‘I can do it later’ and so on and so on.
But my scattered brain, my short attention span and my desire to build a self-love routine requires that I take time for me, where external distractions have no place in my internal space. .
And like the nice TED talk I saw today, I will remind myself not to say ‘WHY are you an idiot that can’t maintain a routine’ but instead try ‘WHAT can I do to improve on my routine’ .
WHAT > WHY = a much more empowering solution
#42 for school year #20 for 2018 I don’t normally count my Bible study books in the “books I’ve read count.” However this one is truly a normal, non-fiction book I used as my Bible study. Learned volumes and was repeatedly challenged. It felt like reading really good sermons. Might just read this one again sometime. #alwaysgrowing

This semester would have to be one of the most challenging ones so far as a #unimum.
A lot of #sacrifices have been made, and #priorities realigned as I support my baby boy through a very difficult time. Right now I just need to be #mum.
