This is my uncle Maynard. He is a pup that my mom rescued many years ago before finding him his forever home with my Grammy & Grampy. If you've followed my stories in the past couple of days then you know that Uncle Mayney was bitten by a rattlesnake on Sunday night. We thought for a moment he was getting better. Unfortunately his prognosis has gotten worse overnight. He is hanging on to dear life and somehow continues to be the loving, sweet boy we have all grown to love over the years.
Maynard was hanging out in his fenced-in backyard on Sunday when a rattlesnake struck him once on the abdomen and again on his hind leg. He was immediately rushed to the emergency vet clinic where he received two doses of anti-venom vaccines and unfortunately has not been given the okay to go home. Physicians are concerned over the amount of swelling that continues since being admitted on Sunday night. Overnight we received the update that his blood count was low and as such, received a blood transfusion. Since then, he has begun losing the skin on his leg and abdomen at the sight of the bites and it is spreading. He may require a skin graft and additional blood transfusions to keep him alive.
His battle is far from over and in just 2 and a half days, even with pet-medical insurance, bills have amounted to over $6,000 out of pocket. As can be expected, his parents have put everything they have towards saving his life. He is family, but the funds to keep fighting are quickly running out. We are asking for your help.
This community has come together for our family once before when Wyatt was in desperate need of medical care. We are asking for your support once more. Maynard is a pup that came into my life many years ago. I saved his life once before... & I'm asking for your help to save him once again. He is a fighter and a survivor... and his life is worth the fight. He is family and anything you can spare - even if just to spread the word - is greatly appreciated. Every little bit helps.
