Dublin, May 2018 | View of Poolbeg from Sandymount Strand "Am I walking into eternity along Sandymount strand?" Sandymount Strand is the setting of Stephen Dedalus' walk in James Joyce's novel Ulysses. It's also where i used to live for 2 years, and is still one of my favourite parts of Dublin.
I love the sea. But Sandymount Strand has a special place in my heart. I love the Poolbeg chimneys, standing there like towering gatekeepers to the city, symbols of Dublin.
This is the first city I ever lived in and it's the one that I measure all others against. I used to know nearly every street name in the centre, but after 4 years even these are fading from my memory. I would love to eventually do a photo series of the first city I ever fell in love with, dirty auld Dublin.
Another James Joyce quote sums up my feelings quite well. "When I die, Dublin will be written in my heart"
