The river, the valley & the mountain
This spectacular view unfolds on the way from Shree Kharka (which lies on the way to and from Tilicho Lak e) to Thorung-Phedi (4530m). Standing at approximately 4150m, one can see Manang at around 3500m, which is the last village accessible by m otorized vehicles before the Thorung-La pass (5416m). Although some trekkers use this shortcut, it is not recommended because of the lack of acclimatisation and the danger of altitude sickness. On the bottom right one can see the rivers Thorung Khola (left) and Khangsar Khola (right) merging to become the Marsyangdi. A bit further down the river, shortly before Manang, one can see a glimpse of Gangapurna's glacie r lake. On the right, the Annapurna massif rises to its heights, whereas on the top left Pisang Peak (6091m) can be seen. In the far distan ce, looming between the clouds, one can see Manaslu (8163m), a constant companion while trekking up the Manang district. Finally, on the lo wer left, starting in Manang, one can see the direct trail leading up to Thorung-Phedi.
