Just a little ‘bling’ to make the entrance to another local shop pretty. Custom commissions are always fun. Especially when the client says “I don’t care - do whatever you want. It’ll be great.”
You can see this for yourself at Table 360 Bakery in downtown Astoria. Stop in and tell ‘em you like it. And pick yourself up something scrumptious while you’re there! #creationsstudiogallery#ilovemosaics#astoriaoregon#artcommissions#communitynotcompetition
The last couple days have been pretty busy. I worked Sunday night, came home, slept until noon, went to work last night and then this morning drove my boys to SeaTac for their flight down to Arizona.
Something I always said growing up was, “omg, I can’t wait to grow up and move to the city. I hate living in a small town!!” Driving home from the airport was a mess. And even though I don’t mind going into the city every once in awhile.......there is NOTHING in the world that compares to this! I love living in an area where the city lights don’t get in the way of a beautiful sunset. This is my favorite place to walk. The weather was perfect, the view was on point and the fresh area was just what I needed after my last two days! #pnw#pacificnorthwest#astoria#astoriaoregon#astoriameglerbridge#meglerbridge#beautifuldestinations#beautifulsunset#freshair
When I was in high school I wanted to something in criminal justice. I did ride alongs with the APD, I wrote my senior paper on the controversies surrounding the death penalty. I've read biographies of people that work in morgues. But the summer after high school I took Psychology 101 at Clatsop Community College and then I just fell into working full time and never went back. I bounced around to lot of different jobs around here. I worked in insurance for a little while. I hated it. People and their money. When someone would get into an accident and their car insurance rates would go up, they'd blame me. Just because I'm the one in front of them. I'm the face of the company to them. You face the most of it. And I like getting off at 3 in the morning anyway. This city is so peaceful at that hour. There's no one around, it's so quiet. (Paula McCargish 2/4)
I've been here my whole life. I was born here. This town is such a melting pot these days. When I was younger I couldn't wait to leave this place. I started working full time right after high school and I stuck around. Actually a lot of people I graduated with ended up moving back. It's like a black hole. A beautiful one though. Most of those friends came back because they wanted to. It's still such a small town though. Even today, my mom will call me and ask me if I'm having a bad day at work because she saw someone that I saw that day and they talked to her about me. I'm a bartender at a couple of places. You have good days and bad ones. It's all about knowing your regulars and how they handle their drinks. You can get into a lot of trouble if you don't. (Paula McCargish 1/4)
