FINAL STRETCH leading up to @uspapower National Championships and as tradition I will be going social media silent. It is now time to hit openers, seconds and then get my mind and soul charged up so I can have the best performance I can.

This has been a fantastic journey and I really want to thank everyone that has supported me through it. @lustrengththerapy - 🚨 DEADLIFT: USE YOUR ARMS AS HOOKS [deadlift analogy] 🚨

One of the most common mistakes during the deadlift is not effectively taking the slack out of the barbell.

While there may be different reasons for not properly taking the slack out of the barbell, one analogy that has helped with my clients is to imagine that the arms are ropes and that the hands are hooks. The biceps should not be "contracting" and trying to pick the barbell off the ground as this could lead to compensation and even serious injury.

Not taking slack out of the barbell can cause:
🔥 Potential bicep tears and injuries
💣 Lower back pain and compensation of different muscle groups
💥 Not effectively using leg drive to lift barbell off the ground

Taking the slack out of the barbell:
1️⃣ Protects the lifters from any bicep injuries
2️⃣ Properly engages the hips and legs to lift barbell off ground
3️⃣ Provides maximal tension to reduce the amount of compensation/injury

Remember to focus on driving the feet into the ground oppose to prematurely lifting the hips upwards to lift the barbell off the ground. Proper leg drive along with using the rope/hook analogy can dramatically help with your deadlift!

🏋️️‍♂️I started weight training over 4 years ago, and since experimented with so many different splits. Nothing has worked quite like 3-4 days in the gym of intense focused strength training. Honing in on 2 compound barbell lifts each session. Focus on your key compound lifts, and you’ll gain strength and muscle like no other.

⏱️I love lifting but never quite loved spending 2-3 hours in the gym, 5-6 days a week! I wanted to actually enjoy my life, while still putting in work a few hours a week in the gym. Strength training has helped me do that, effortlessly.

😏Not to mention that once you get the ball rolling, and you start to see those gains (both muscle and strength) you’ll have gained a new level of confidence, that you’ll really want to live your life!

personally, i prefer to do some variation of rowing each session because of the nature of my job. i emphasize training my back. this doesn’t have to be the case for others. the point i want to make is the importance of having a routine that is well rounded for structural integrity & a good base of strength to start with.

Slow and far too heavy 135, last of a bunch of 5*135 singles hence the tap'n'go.

Have benched maybe 5 times in the last 8 weeks and it shows 😂

Maybe I should just become one of those lifters that pretends bench doesn't matter, and settle for 110 for life instead...? 87.5kg BW today, aiming for 84kg by end August 'cos looking half decent on holiday is more important to me this year than competing. Small matter of Nationals to do late July, reckon I'll be 85/86 for that so all my old numbers might need revising for being nearly a stone underweight. Still after at least 150 though.

TRAINING TO FAILURE ⚡️

When people think of failure we often associate it with something negative. However that's not always the case when it comes to lifting weights, not if you planned it anyways.
🤔
Training to failure means performing a set where you'll lift to the point where you'll fail to complete the next rep. The weight is often heavy enough to induce struggle and tension. The weight is not lightweight where you end up doing countless reps. Don't confuse that with a burnout.
.
The benefits of training to failure offers your muscles much greater stimulus and muscle breakdown.
.
However the cons are increased fatigue which may take longer to recover from, and may affect how you perform on other exercises.
.
Ideally you shouldn't train to failure every single time you workout. Normally you could throw this in on a final set or if you only had one set of an exercise.

🎈STRETCHING OUT CONSTANT MID-BACK TIGHTNESS🎈

“My mid/upper back is always jacked up at work, and it gives me headaches! How can I stretch it?!”.
If you have chronic mid/upper back tightness that never seems to subside, you know what to do: ADD SOME LOAD AND ECCENTRIC CONTROL!
.
🎈This Bentover Rotational T is a great option for providing an overload stimulus throughout the entire horizontal abduction/adduction movement.
🎈While normal Bentover T’s can also provide a good stimulus, the external resistance of the plate + gravity is constantly changing (becoming less and less) as you work throughout the entire range.
🎈With the rotational option, we still get the same scapular movement we are seeking for the ‘stretch’, but we are able to provide a more consistent external load via gravity throughout a greater range.
🗣️Leave the stretching alone and give it a go!

🌵What brought you to The Strength House? I was looking for a gym to get back in shape and would fit in with my work schedule. I came across the website after a Google search and the rest is history.
🌵What is your proudest accomplishment since joining The Strength House? Hitting 245 on the bench was incredible for me, I absolutely did not expect it.
🌵Besides the training, what’s your favorite part of being a Strength House member? Talking to Greg, Tony and Nancy, hanging out with Behr, Brooke and Eddie, and being a part of the National Air Hockey League of America.
🌵What motivates you to keep training hard? I'm genuinely inspired by the other folks in Conquer and want to push myself as hard as I see them pushing themselves.

After discussing with @victorthedictator, made the smart decision and lowered down the weight and volume to accommodate the ongoing issue. Smart decision making and leaving the ego aside saves you from injuries. I would know...

HUNGRY! Con los exámenes acabados y a la falta de un par de entregar para finiquitar tengo ganas de descansar. Estar con mi pareja @albateixido14 ❤️, entrenar, videojuegos, amigos, etc. Se acerca un periodo más tranquilo, pero hasta el agosto no tendré vacaciones. Ich konnte heute seit längerer Zeit zum ersten mal nach meiner Verletzung wieder schwer Bankdrücken und wollte natürlich gleich einen neuen Rekord aufstellen. Zu sehen sind fehlgeschlagene 215Kg (touch &go)
Ich bin trotzdem nicht unzufrieden.
Und obwohl ich heute relativ wenig Schlaf hatte, lief es besser als erwartet.
Ps. Auch mit einem Halbvollen Tank könnt ihr noch Vollgas fahren. 🤙🏼

(Late post) at least my bench isn’t progressing as horridly as my squat and dead’s 🤕 40kg x 4 but more like 3. I think I could’ve hit the 4th rep but as you can see it was unstable. Better luck next time
