South Luangwa National Park in Zambia is often referred to as ‘the valley of the leopard’, and after spending just a few short days there, I could see why.
I saw leopards both at night and during the day. I also saw a mating pair. I was thrilled to see these big cats. Just like lions, leopards are in trouble and often described as the most persecuted cats in the world.
In Africa, leopards are gone from at least 49 per cent of their historic range and are extinct in six of the continent’s countries. They fare even worse in Eurasia, where they have lost 84 per cent of their territories.
Standing 10m from one of Africa’s #BigFive is a truly breathtaking and thrilling experience that only Uganda offers. As White Rhinos character is quite unpredictable and running speed can reach up to 45 km/h, I would be in real danger if he would be in a “no Latvians during my lunch break” mood... #Uganda#Africatravels#whiterhino#rhino#uniquexperiences
