My biggest nugget is on to 4th grade. We met her homeroom teacher and her math and science teacher. After lunch they switch and I think it's wonderful. Her homeroom teacher reminds me of our cousin Mary Kate in that she has bean bags and stools and cushions and pillows and all sorts of other options as well as desks for the kids to sit. As long as they hold themselves accountable and pay attention they can choose to be comfortable while learning! I am so excited because I have felt all along that this is what Lillie needs to succeed. (Mary has seen huge improvements in her students since she implemented this in her Middle School!) Lil has definitely had one of the most amazing Summers of her life. She learned to swim and dive into 8 feet of water! She made a penpal in California on her trip with daddy to see her grandma Lupe and her Auntie Cynthia. She got to spend time with her bubby, Robbin Dee! She met a far away family member Galili Haviv visiting from Israel with her grandpa Kevin S. Garrison. And she got spoiled by all of them doing numerous activities for days on end.
I should add that she did cry a bit because she didn't get to spend enough time with her cousins in Chicago and Florida with Auntie Mindy Warling and uncle Barrett and Yesenya!
She gained a ton of Freedom this year. We let her go play at friends houses around the corner. She had sleepovers with her cousins in Orlando and Uncle Scott McDonald. She got to stay with Grantie Kathy McDonald all summer instead of camp. She stayed home with me while I job hunted for a month. We haven't had time like that together in years!! She tried all tons of new foods and surprised all of us many times with her wit and her adorable and funky fashion sense.
After we met her teachers she mentioned she was a bit nervous for school tomorrow. We discussed her amazing summer and how we said it was the summer of her lifetime so far! And she decided right then and there that this was going to be the best year yet! So 4th grade watch out!!! My big girl is ready for you!
