Welcome to Day 8 of the #bgytribechallenge Today we have #lowcrescentlunge or #anjaneyasana brought to you by Rebecca @begoodkarma. Start in a comfortable runner’s lunge, then ground your back knee, untuck the toes, and work on settling your upper body between that back knee and the front heel. I’ve added some heart opening as well, but it is perfectly fine to keep the spine long, or even add a forward fold with hands grounded or on blocks. Feel free to offer any expression that suits your body and your current practice. . . Swipe left for other variation.
Low lunges are great poses to stretch the iliopsoas, and the quads; while strengthening the glutes, as well the muscles supporting the knee, inner groin, and shoulders/arms. . .
Pro tips: Add your low lunge in a flow — lingering for at least 5 deep breaths; or if you’re feeling a more yin or targeted flexibility practice, stay for 2-3 minutes. If needed, pad that back knee, and feel free to keeping grounding the arms & hands. Happy low lunging!
