Durocher in Papier d’Auvergne hand-made rag paper. 13 x 17cm. Later binding by Jeff
Clements in full red Harmatan goatskin over deeply recessed boards, freely tooled black
and grey rectilinear lines, feathered onlays of blue, grey and yellow goatskin traverse both boards and spine; board papers of natural cork on black paper and flyleaves lined
with red suede, top edge trimmed by hand and coloured bright yellow, textblock sewn on braided tapes, endleaves are green ‘Veronese’ Fabriano 130gsc Roma handmade laid paper, endbands are blue linen thread over a double core of vellum and nylon; binding signed ‘Jeff Clements 2016’ on lower flyleaf, with cloth drop back box in beige cloth, paper label on spine. The design ‘Solomon’s song,’ although essentially abstract, contains erotic hints in the
sculptured details. This little binding grew out of a sort of ‘biomorphic sensitivity’, being
not only visual but also tactile. The etchings by Abram Krol were printed directly from
the plates. This was the first binding of this scarce text.
