I haven’t posted in a few days, and I feel badly about it. “Don’t stress yourself out,” they say. But sometimes not fitting everything into a single day is stressful. What do you say to that, oh wise advice-givers? Haha. But if there’s something that we can all agree on, it’s the calming nature of reading.
What books are your go-to pick-me-up books? Also, what books push your BUTTONS? I couldn’t resist.
“Finally, from so little sleeping and so much reading, his brain dried up and he went completely out of his mind.” ~ Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, Don Quixote
~ #junelitwrit ~ Day 15: Aesthetic: Favorite time period to read/write | I love historical fiction a whole lot. I like futuristic stories too, but historical research can be taught and learned while vivid imagination cannot, so I find that it’s much easier to get my hands on decent historical fiction. Here’s to hoping that doesn’t make me sound like a literary snob. No one likes a snob. Day 16: What makes your WIP stand out? | I’m already at risk for sounding snobbish, so I mustn’t brag on myself. A novel can stand out in a bad way, but I probably shouldn’t be too self-deprecating either. Day 17: Parents day: family in your WIP | Family is arguably the most underused resource in YA literature. Wait, I’m sounding like a snob again. But when I think of Dune by Frank Herbert, I can recall an entire family that serves a purpose and drives the integrity and tragedy of the story. If I can’t manage to sprinkle some depth over the parents in my WIP, then someone should prepare themselves to slap me. Maybe slap me if I get it right too. It might keep down the snob.
