SABOR LATINO RECAP: Chef Talk: The Latin Influence an educational session at Sabor Latino Food Show took place inside the Western Foodservice & Hospitality Expo in the Los Angeles Convention Center, featuring Armando Tam, Founder Levanta Ventures; Carrie Crawford, GM Del Frisco’s Grill Santa Monica; Ben Diaz, Chef/Founder CBD Cuisine; Cesar Villarreal, Chef/Owner Cesar’s Bistro and Denise Portillo, Chef/Founder Chef Portillo. The panel was moderated by Roberto Carlos Lemus, CFO Branding is Social and Business Developer at Exquisitamente who spoke to the panelists about the Hispanic cuisine and how is no longer exotic or foreign within the United States and hasn’t been for quite some time. It is an American cuisine! This incredibly diverse cuisine consist of more than just tacos and burritos! More and more chefs are now staking a claim to a high-end blend of Latin-American flavors and traditional north-of-the-border preparations. Mexican, Central American, and South American are among this diverse group of flavors. With Los Angeles in particular being home to about 5 million Hispanic residents it is being claimed that this cuisine is making Multicultural the new normal, especially popular among Millennials and Gen Z. This exciting panel shared their insight and expertise on the Latin-American cuisine. They educated the audience on what Latin-American cuisine consists of, what the commonalities and differences are among styles, how “healthy” Latin-American cuisine is looked at, and how Latin-American flavors can be implemented into their establishment.
