Sometimes the shots are bad, but the skincare’s always good. ♀️
A friend and I had a good conversation the other day about niceness vs kindness. We discussed for a minute the differences and how they seem to be interchangeable, but we came to the conclusion that niceness is basically being polite and kindness comes from the heart. What do you think? #kindnessmatters#consciousliving#echovie#conversations

According to an article in the Huffington Post, “the average woman puts 515 synthetic chemicals on her body everyday”
What’s even more shocking.... the FDA doesn’t require beauty products to undergo testing before being sold 🤬 and our bodies absorb more than HALF of what we put on them—our skin is our largest organ after all. ♀️It’s no wonder we are a hot mess of:
-poor gut health
-autoimmune disease -and other issues After doing my research, I started a journey to cleaning up my home and my life.
1st I started with my 🧖🏻♀️skincare (I felt like that would be the most important since it goes on my face/neck/chest!) I always swore by a particular brand that you could find anywhere for their cleanser, moisturizer, and foundation until I looked at the ingredient list ♀️ (synthetic fragrances and dyes among other toxic chemicals). Then I found my new fav that is non-toxic, free of synthetic fragrances, and cruelty-free from a friend’s social media post. I ordered product on the spot because I trusted her and knew that if she’s affiliated with the company then she really uses and loves the products. And these products are safe to use on my boys’ skin when they need it in the future. What’s 1 thing you’d immediately replace with a safe option if you knew of one?
New review on the blog @dr.botanicals. Ever wanted to slather kale and artichoke on your face in a completely legitimate fashion? We have the answer for you!
The babes at @origins_beauty have given us 20% off the WHOLE @dr.botanicals range including their superfood day and night creams and they are as lush as they sound
I’ve been using @farmacybeauty Clean Bee the past few weeks, morning and night. Some thoughts:
It cleans well.
It does remove makeup but with eye makeup it’s a bit tricky. I find it’s hard to remove eye makeup with gel cleansers so use a separate eye makeup remover. It has a unique scent: an herbal honey scent. I actually like the scent but if you’re sensitive to scents or essential oils, this might not be for you. It costs $28 for 5 oz. Some people find this drying but my combination skin found it to be fine.
Is it a must have? I don’t think it is. I think you’re paying for the unique scent, propolis, and plant extracts in the ingredients. It is a nice cleanser though.
This is real. These are real products and real ingredients.
If you haven't installed the THINKDIRTYShopClean app yet, I invite you to do so. See the difference for yourself [Aaand that's why I LOVE TROPIC! I would spend hours researching which products from which brands were safe... with Tropic, I already know it's all good! But you know what - you don't have to have Tropic from me, in fact, you don't even have to have Tropic! If only one person sees this and starts to seek out cleaner products and make informed choices about what they put on their skin, that's all that matters!]
It was hard to say while I was pregnant what skincare really worked or not cause you know crazy preggo hormones I also played it safe and was very careful about what I put on my skin (even tho its natural and non-toxic doesn’t mean it’s safe during pregnancy). And although there are still certain things that should be avoided while breastfeeding I’m excited to try some new products and get back into a good skincare routine. My skin is probably still effected by hormones, but it honestly hasn’t been so bad (other than my epic sized under eye circles) I started using @skinessenceorganics Nourish Serum just before baby girl was born and I’ve been loving it. It smells so good and absorbs really well into the skin. I’ve been using it mostly just at night but I’ve also applied in the morning and when I actually had time for makeup it applied well over the serum. As for long term skin performance too soon to tell so stay tuned. But I’m hoping it’s brightening and anti aging powers will work on me!! As with most things I purchased this from @welldotca and it’s currently on sale!!!♀️ Photo: @welldotca
The best advice my sister @lisjoseph gave me in 2013 was to go to school to be an Esthetician. I at first didn’t understand why I needed to go to school. At that time I wanted to make pretty soaps and pretty smell good butters. Going to school to study the skin was what I needed to really take my products to the next level. Before then it was just whipping together whatever I thought sounded good with no regard to the skin or someone else combined two butters welp it must be good let me try it. The skin didn’t come into play. After studying skin then I became an Esthetics Instructor so I really needed to know my stuff. That path lead my business to where it is now from pretty products to healing products as my customers call it. If you are doing something you are passionate about take it to the next level and study it. Watch the replay... bts making Oatmeal Salve. Click logo in bio.
I admit it I become attached, borderline obsessive over an ingredient I’m working with and testing on. This is no different. This time it is an ingredient that is so close to my heart too - black rice. Look at this purplish black beauty! Traditionally used to clean skin and hair for its clarifying properties. Modern science studies backed up this tradition. Rice extract contains high content of ferulic and caffeine acid and p-coumaric along side with the highest Anthocyanins especially in black rice. These photochemistry brightens skin, increases skin hydration, plumps and firms of outer layers of skin, prevents UV induced skin damage with its off the chart antioxidants level and as if that’s not enough black rice extract is also proven to be anti-inflammatory especially for allergic contact dermatitis and acne lesions. 🤯🤯Mind blown. All this in one single ingredient (well that if it is extracted properly and freshly) so I am working to test a few different techniques to extract the most properties out of the crops.
Combining this highly active ingredient synergistically with powerful southeast Asian botanicals like chebula, Amla, manjistra will give you such stellar daytime skin clearing serum for those with acne prone, sensitive and inflamed skin..
Even though rice has been in our culinary tradition and beauty secret for century, black rice had only been reserved to highness in royalty and higher class. Today, it’s available to most who is willing to pay the price for it and I intend to introduce you to the power of this crop. It’s just amazingly beautiful. Can’t wait to share what I can help your skin with this beauty in our clearing serum.
Did you know that we created an exclusive scent for @secretcatalog? It’s a variation on our Neutralizer body butter and we’re kind of obsessed. Limited quantity available through the link in our profile. These babies will not be made again after they sell out! #naturelooksgoodonyou#secretcatalog

We'll be showcasing this Friday @thehazyunicorn
On the days when we're not using our Back to Eden or Beet It! scrubs, we opt for an exfoliating glove that helps remove dry or dead skin. Because our products are rich in mineral, we recommend using our scrub collection no more than twice a week and in between sessions, try an exfoliating glove, mitt or loofah in addition. CAUTION may cause excessive relaxation and or much needed naps . #bodyexfoliant#bodygoals#scrubs#backtoedenscrub#beetitscrub#brooklynessence
Lash serums and lawsuits have been in the news a lot as of late. What’s all the fuss about?
• Isopropyl Cloprostenate (which is a type of medication called a prostaglandin analog) is the issue and the FDA has deemed products with this ingredient as drugs and are not proved “safe and efficacious” since 2012. • It’s an ingredient used by Rodan + Fields (and others) in their Lash Boost and a lawsuit has been filed this spring against R+F because they omitted giving info on potential side effects. • The suit lists “change in iris color, eyelid drooping, itchy eyes, eye/lid discoloration, loss of eyelashes” and more.
• The prescription-only Latisse uses a similar prostaglandin analog ingredient but the difference is they disclose the side effects as they’re listed as a drug. What’s a girl with a yen for longer lashes to do???
Our Eyelash & Eyebrow Serum is made without the ingredient in question and will not turn blue eyes brown or discolor your skin. Instead we use Pentapeptides which help thicken hair follicles alongside Wheat Proteins, Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin E and Pantheol to hydrate, condition and strengthen lashes.
It takes longer to “work” than the prescription ones, or ones that use Isopropyl Cloprostenate, but to me the trade off of time for safety is totally worth it. And with reviews like “my mom thought I got lash extensions!” we feel pretty good! @peta certified cruelty-free.

Interesting Comfrey Fact:
Comfrey is often referred to as the “King of Accumulators” because it deploys a series of taproots over 10 feet down in the soil, collecting minerals we can’t normally access. Then it deposits them in the leaves . For that reason we use our dried leaves in so many of our Happie Coconut products. .
Let's get more summer radiance and less summer shine! Last night's Beauty and Brains episode was all about how to avoid that excess oil production we all get during the summer. Check it out in the link below!
Self-care, self-love, self-honor... whatever word you use practice it. Not just by the products you use on the outside but be mindful of what you put on the inside. Have questions on starting your skinfood journey dm me :).
Never hurts to say it again!!! NEVER take Apple Cider Vinegar straight. Those that have will concur that it doesn’t settle well in the tummy. It may burn and really irritate your system. Always dilute it. Same for the face if you have dry skin please cut the ACV with water when using on your face. Also when doing the detox drink you HAVE to drink it 30 minutes before brushing your teeth. If you don’t, over time it will affect the enamel of your teeth and it may feel sensitive. Once or twice won’t hurt but weeks it will. Livestream up for 24 hrs. Click link in bio. Have questions dm me.
Last night the Englishman and I went on a fancy movie date to see Deadpool 2 in one of those theaters that have reclining leather chairs with blankets and serve expensive cocktails and food. The good thing is that the movie was a blast and I ate my weight in truffle fries. The bad is that the combination of salty and deliciously junky food, copious cocktails and a late night left my face a little too similar to Deadpool’s for comfort. This morning’s mission? Rescue my skin. Get back that glow. Kick butt. The best way to bring vitality back to lackluster skin is with a face mask. I didn’t have time for a long masking ritual, but thankfully I had my trusty jar of @maxandme_oils Sweet Serenity Mask and Wash. I slathered it in while puttering around and then let it reactivate in a steamy shower. A quick facial massage to help lift, tone and de-puff and my skin looked noticeably fresher and brighter. I followed with a refreshing and toning mist of @munskincare Anarose toner, a burst of nourishing hydration from @yuliskincare Ambrosia and a slather of my latest obsession: @agentnateur’s Holi(oil). The latter will get its own post soon, but suffice it to say that I am blown away by its unusual formula and my skin seems to be loving it as well. Finally, I added just the tiniest smidge of @maylindstromskin Blue Cocoon for extra calming nourishment, followed by @africanbotanics Clouburst Micro-Emulsion - a light, balancing moisturizer to help counter the heavier moisturizers and add an extra burst of moisture. As for my tired eyes, a touch of @labellafigurabeauty’s Decouverte treatment helped brighten and diffuse my dark circles, and left me looking bright-eyed and glowing. We all need an X-Force if killer products to help us fight our skin battles. What are your skincare superheroes?
#SweetAlmondOil is an important ingredient in KARPA’s Moisturizer…. Sweet Almond Oil is light in texture, and can easily penetrate deep into the skin, softening and removing the dirt and debris stuck in the skin pores and hair follicles. This prevents blackheads and acne.
