#betapitch debrief !
Well, yesterday we pitched our start-up @my_iceberg during the pitch contest organized by @betahaushh, where we have our coworking space and where btw, @myfoodprinteu was born as well.
Outcome: we ranked 4th with other start-ups, so we didn't win the contest BUT we won a lot of direct and indirect feedbacks while we had a lot of fun presenting and discussing with the audience.
So here are the few lessons we learnt yesterday:
1. That's a pitch contest, it doesn't matter if you're super early stage, seed, with a PoC, an MVP or much better a talented an growing start-up, the point is here: that's a contest ! You must be the best to win overall. Full stop.
2. Visual pitchdeck is a must for an audience pitch ! You don't pitch to an audience and a jury the same way you pitch to VCs or business angels. Be visual, tell your story, sell your product/services, don't spend too much time on the market, customer(persona) etc... tell a story!
3. Team, you need to have a strong team with an expertise for every specificity of your product/service. If you work with data, you need a data analyst, if you work with a specific technology, you need an expert or a researcher having expertise in this technology. Winning teams always have expertise.
Well there's much more to share but that's my top3 here.
We will work on this and we will come back: to win because as written in 1. : that's a contest!
