“The essence of warriorship, or the essence of human bravery, is refusing to give up on anyone or anything.” ― Chögyam Trungpa, Shambhala: The Sacred Path of the Warrior
About to mark 1 year of teaching yoga (as a sub at my favourite studio) and I am so grateful for all those who supported me through my training and to PranaShanti Yoga Centre for the ongoing opportunity.
I still have nightmares every night, and flashbacks every day of traumatic events, but my yoga practice gives me the tools to ground myself and come back to the present, the reminders to take care of myself, and the compassion to forgive and love even when my mind tells me I'm failing or not enough...teaching this liberating practice helps to deepen my own commitment and try to practice the philosophy in my daily life, and as clumsy and as flawed as it all is, I'm getting better at accepting all of it.
And this gives me hope. I can always see change, even though it may be small, and not fast enough for everyone around me, it is change, it is progress, in ways that are almost imperceptible but at the same time earth-shattering... and I know that if it is possible for me, it is possible for anyone.
So I don't give up. On anyone or anything.
Continuing to practice.
Continuing to teach.
Continuing to learn.
