What is it you’re passionate about? What makes you come alive when you talk about it, or better yet, when you’re in the middle of it? For me, it’s photography. For whatever reason, God made me the kind of gal who just geeks out over it!
I’m a very visual person, and with photography I’m always looking deeper than what’s simply there in the photo. There’s always a story, and there’s always something that can teach us about God. I know that might seem like a bold thing to say, but it’s really not. God has revealed himself in his creation, and I’m simply capturing moments and studying them with the hope that I and whoever sees my images won’t miss what he’s put there to reveal more of himself to us.
Peru holds a very special place in my heart. It’s the first place I ever traveled on mission with my church. It’s where my husband proposed to me. It’s where God opened my teeny little eyes to see some of his most glorious and overwhelming creation. It’s where I learned that relationship matters more than time, as Peruvians know very well. It’s truly another world and one I want to someday take my children to.
Seeing this sweet lady’s face brings the smell of the air and the vastness of the land back to me. The colors, the music. The dogs that are always trotting through town like they’re on their way to an important meeting. The people - what of their hearts and souls? The nearness of God, his planning of every step we take when we’re there. I miss this peculiar little village.
