When I was a young teen, a big part of what kept me sane were my Meatcake Comic Books. The series brought me to a beautiful fantasy world full of witches, fairies, mermaids, horror, beauty, blood and gore, cupcakes and butterflies. A big influence on my aesthetic and life, if you haven’t guessed.
I have always been a huge supporter of @damedarcy, the creator of Meatcake. And in my adult life now, we are close friends and she supports me. During this sudden loss of Bess, Dame Darcy has called me and left me messages, checks up on me daily, txts me, has comforted and consoled me, and given me a tremendous amount of strength. Today she sent me this beautiful piece in the mail of Bess in the eye of a Ouija planchette surrounded by things that symbolize her. She captured her face and eyes so perfectly. She even wrapped the art in gift wrapping with mermaids that look like us together.
Dame Darcy has deadlines of other projects, jobs, a Patreon, all kinds of things in her very busy life. But she sat down and took the time to do this for me so I can remember my baby in the ink of my favorite artist. And that means everything in the entire world.
I am so deeply thankful to have one of my goddess heroes as a loving caring friend. This piece is incredible. I love you so much, Dame Darcy. You have my heart forever. Thank you,
