I had the loveliest of days yesterday, thoroughly enjoyed eventing Banksy and riding for @ctgarea_19 in the Horse Trials Area Qualifier at St Leonard’s.
I allowed plenty of time in the morning; it’s a weird feeling getting someone else’s horse ready at their place, even more so without Tina even there. It didn’t take long and he was bath, plaited and my first attempt of making 4 white legs white (don’t think I did too badly at). Banksy was looking super sexy even if I do say so myself. Launceston is only about an hour and half journey which we class as ‘local’. Banks warmed up lovely for dressage but unfortunately found some areas of the sand school rather distracting which resulted in quite a tense test but we still scored a respectful 32.3. I then quickly dashed around the XC course, must admit some fences I didn’t walk all the way up to At this point I wasn’t sure if I was simply mental or just brave!
Anyway we had a fab round over the twisty showjumping, Banksy helped me out a couple of times bless him and we got a bit close to one which resulted in 4 faults. Then XC… he was so feisty in the start box and eager to get out. He absolutely flew from start to finish and was rather strong at times, like trying to turn left to go up the steps he was ready to go off down the field!! He made the ones I was worried about feel effortless and gave me so much confidence, we were quite up on time so we went gently through the water and strong on to the finish. We went CLEAR and inside the time!! That post XC buzz was an all-time high! Sadly we didn’t have an individual placing but who cares I’m super chuffed!! The team came 2nd only 3 points behind the winning and qualifying team (just one pole!!). As always it was so lovely to see everyone out and about enjoying their horses and thank you to all the volunteers, hope no-one is too burnt today. Big well done to Danielle and Sarah qualifying individuals for the champs!! Eeekk go Team Trec!! Finally a HUGE thank you to @life_on_the_left_rein for trusting me with your precious boy he was epic and think he thoroughly enjoyed himself too, Hickstead looked amazing now go and enjoy your holiday #notjealousatall
