abby, 35mm • q: what are you trying to achieve when you dress? a: This is probably the toughest question you could have given me! My answer changes daily/weekly/yearly. Growing up, clothes gave me a way to quietly rebel. If I colored in my keds or wore a pair of men’s trousers, I felt like I was carving my own small space into the world. Now, sometimes I want my clothes to feel more like skin, sometimes I want them to diminish gender and gendered beauty standards, sometimes I want them to make me shine and vibrate, sometimes I want them to make me disappear, sometimes I want them to make me feel closer to other women, and sometimes I want them to still rebel a little.
