HARDSTYLE DEADBUG TEST
For the next week of our Core Challenge, we are going to cover the Deadbug.
This is the starting place for all of my core progressions. It is simple, easy to learn and execute and brutal when done properly.
But before diving into dead bug land, we need to know a place to start.
What are I always see with this exercise is people extending their legs out too far and losing control of their midline.
This is a test I use with new clients to determine how to scale this exercise.
What I learned is how long I will initially program dead bugs with legs and arms straight versus bent.
If you can hold with your legs straight for over 60 seconds, then you are a boss and can crush whatever variation you choose.
However, if you are currently around 13 seconds, then the length of your harder holds should reflect this.
I will often complex harder holds with bent leg easier versions and build out hard hold length of a monthly cycle.
