It’s cocktail season, but that doesn’t mean you have to drink empty calories. Alcohol in moderation is not taboo in healthy cultures around the world, but what are you adding to it? Excess sugar, chemicals, fake colouring, and preservatives are the usual culprits in mixed drinks (and the syrups you buy to make your own even). Make some upgrades by using one part organic cane sugar, one part water and boil. Then refrigerate up to a month. Or better yet, maple syrup or honey! You won’t need to add much.
Simple, healthy margarita: club soda, dash of maple syrup, tequila , and freshly squeezed lime to taste. With salted rim of course.
