I get asked a lot what my training plan is. My training plan is called, Godrics training plan. Wait. What? Yep. I go by his speed. I read his body language. When it’s time to go, it’s time to go. Let me use an example from today. He had his first exposure to a rolling cart. The giant ones you use to stack wood and bags of mulch on at home depot. Yeah, those monster ones. He stared at it for a while. I let him while rewarding. I wanted the cart = yummy treats and praise whenever he saw it. Was it still startling? Yes. Once the cart was gone, we played and joked around and had fun. Then? We left. Yep. I drove 10 minutes to only train for 20. That’s the life of a trainer. Slow is fast. I end everything on a good note. Every single thing, every single time. I see a lot of trainers on here push their dogs often, and then have a reactivity problem later. Slow down. You’re setting the standard way too high for your dogs. It’s okay to have high standards, but your dog is going to get fatigued very quickly. Again, slow is fast. Take your time. Have fun. Go at YOUR dogs speed.
