There's a few books I've enjoyed to have #readmorethanonce (thanks for the tag @grimdark_dad ). American Gods, one of my all-time favourites, is one of those. Then there's of course The Hobbit, Harry Potter, Wuthering Heights and The Secret History. Others that I've read more recently for the first time, I'm already fairly sure I'll be revisiting again one day.
So what makes you go back to certain books? Do you reread regularly? Why or why not? And what's your favourite book to reread?
For me, there's a few reasons to reread, at least occasionally. Sometimes it's just nice to go back to a world or characters that I adored.
I also often discover new details that I missed the first time around, or I start seeing things from a new perspective, which can be an interesting experience. Reading the same book at different ages has given me an insight into my changing tastes and how life experience might influence my ideas about certain stories. When I read American Gods for the first time many years ago, I just saw it as an exciting fantasy story, but during last years reread, I found it dealt heavily with emigration and finding one's place in new and strange surroundings.
Of course, I've also reread 'favourites' from years ago, just to realize, I couldn't stand them anymore but I guess that's a risk us rereaders have to take.
