Masjid Agung Jawa Tengah (Great Mosque of Central Java) was located in Jalan Gajah, East Semarang City, Central Java - Indonesia. This mosque adapted 3 architecture styles; Arabic, Roman, and Javanese. The construction process officially began in September 2002 and finished in 2006, moreover it was inaugurated by the president of Indonesia at that time, Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. The stone as the original inscription was taken from the slopes of Merapi Mountain in Magelang and carved by Nyoman M. Alim. There are 3 main buildings; the domed mosque with 4 minarets, a library in the right side, and an auditorium in the left side.

The building which stands in about 10 hectares of land can accommodate more than 10.000 worshipers, also it has complete facilities start from guest house, cafeteria, a plaza, a library, staff office, parking lot, an auditorium, also a tower view. In the middle of the building, it has 6 giant hydraulic umbrellas which can open and close as the umbrella in Nabawi Mosque, Medina. Those 6 giant umbrellas represent to 6 tenets of iman (rukun iman).

In Masjid Agung has a tower named Al-Husna tower that has similar design with the tower in Kudus Mosque. It's also called as Asmaul Husna Tower because the height of the tower's 99 meters as a representation of 99 Attributes of Allah. In the top of this tower (19th floor), we could see the view of Semarang City through 5 binoculars. In the second and third floor, there're a museum of Islamic culture also a studio of islamic dakwah radio in the ground floor.
