On May 30th two incredible people lost their home and all of their belongings in a devastating house fire.
Cassandra (right) @sally_sak & Jeff (left) @jhuge2 @hughespt_yyc are two, hardworking and caring individuals. They lost everything in the fire and now have to completely start over.
We are looking to raise money to help them get their everyday lives back together.
Cassandra works as a Booking Director for The Numa Network and has lost her laptop in the fire which is needed for her career.
Jeff works as a personal trainer and Fascial Stretch Therapist and needs to purchase all of his equipment that was lost.
Both of them are also in need of the essentials (clothes, shoes, toiletries etc)
❗️Myself and others will be hosting a live stream video, Friday June 8th to help raise donations for these incredible individuals. I will be attempting to lift 22,500 lbs. Well the first stripe on the blue belt happened tonight and I am beyond happy. I had a few year lay off from grappling and I can not be more happy that I am back at it and with the team that I have found.
.
I heard about our coach Casey from a friend and took me about a month to finally get my ass into the gym and give his school a shot. After 20 minutes I knew that I had found the school and the coach to get me back into this.
.
Lots of hard work and getting back into Jiu-Jitsu was a struggle at first and I still have a long ways to go. But the HARDWORK is worth every second. This journey has only begun and I am pumped for the future with this sport and the team.

Today’s fitcamp class was mainly lower body. Leg day for everybody! We worked on squats, lunges, resistance quads, walking planks, 10 minute jogging and sprinting as a team. Talk about hardwork and dedication. Great job 👍 everyone for your effort today.

El desarrollo muscular, como hemos visto en otros post, requiere de conocimientos, paciencia y una buena genética "respondedora". Es un campo apasionante porque pretendemos modificar a nuestro antojo nuestra estructura muscular, de forma artesanal y basándonos en la investigación científica.
En este post, hablaremos de los TOP 3
1) Entrenar con un rango de repeticiones variado
Variar tus intensidades de entrenamiento sirve para optimizar los 3 componentes primarios fundamentales para la hipertrofia muscular: tensión mecánica, estrés metabólico y daño muscular. Los rangos de bajas (3-5) y altas repeticiones (13-20), facilitan la mejora del rendimiento en los rangos de hipertrofia clásica (6-12).
Cuando son manipuladas apropiadamente, la combinación de intensidades tiene un efecto sinérgico (mayor que la suma de los factores de forma independiente) en el crecimiento muscular. Tu "velocidad de crucero" en hipertrofia muscular es de 6-12 repeticiones, pero necesitas también utilizar el resto del motor, por encima y por debajo de este rango, para que tu coche desarrolle todo su potencial.
LA COMBINACIÓN DE INTENSIDADES Y REPETICIONES TIENE UN EFECTO SINÉRGICO EN EL CRECIMIENTO MUSCULAR. ¡COMBINA Y GANARÁS!
2) Eleva tu volumen de entrenamiento
El Volumen es la "llave maestra" para maximizar la hipertrofia muscular. Una significativa evidencia en investigación demuestra que el crecimiento muscular y el volumen de entrenamiento presentan una correlación positiva de dosis-respuesta , ELEVA TU VOLUMEN DE ENTRENAMIENTO, INCREMENTANDO LA FRECUENCIA SEMANAL Y EL NÚMERO DE SERIES DE CADA EJERCICIO.
Esto no significa, no te equivoques, que puedas entrenar con un alto volumen todo el tiempo, pues sería la antesala del sobre-entrenamiento. El volumen necesita ser periodizado para ir gradualmente aumentando la frecuencia de entrenamiento semanal y/o el número de series por sesión, dentro del ciclo de entrenamiento programado.

I'll admit it, today was hard, but it was definitely a LOT better than yesterday. Yesterday, I had the most difficult time getting myself out of the house and so today I did everything I could to force myself to the gym and move. This anemia has got to be the hardest thing I've had to deal with in a long time. I'm constantly tired, feeling weak, lightheaded constantly, and having this weird nauseous feeling close to 24/7. Nothing I try to eat sits well with me either. But at this point, I'm taking it one day at a time.

Life is never easy and it will throw shit at you constantly. The problem will never be life, it'll always be how you handle the shit that gets thrown at you by life. Yes, this is most definitely a setback, but it's not going to define me or the goals I've set out in front of me.

Awesome back finisher right here my friends!! 💪🏼 I don’t always train heavy so on my lighter, more hypertrophy training days, I’ll put my focus more towards form and volume. In order to keep my training intense and challenging I’ll throw an “intensifier” or two into my workout like the one in this vid! -
I’d call this exercise a “row-to-lift” but I’m just making that up haha but get some solid sets with this at the beginning of your workout and trust me not only will you feel the burn but you’ll be juicy af ☺️👌🏼

Back at on #chestday @forzexxiv working on the inner pec with adduction work. Today I stayed on both knees for more core engagement. As I pull the cable my body wants to rotate toward the weight. Keeping my core right prevents the rotation.

585, 495, 405, 225. First time I pulled 6 plates conventional from a few weeks back. Skipped 315 and 545, normal warm up weights. 225 was so easy I was impatient and wanting to save energy....and 495 was so easy I knew I had 585....therefore no reason to waste any time with 545. Especially because that's my 5 rep weight lately. There is a method to the madness. 545/0.875=622. I'm talking about rep theory calculations. There is a theory that you can estimate how much you can max based upon what you can rep. The farther away you get from 1 rep the less accurate it becomes. But for me, anything under 10 reps gives me a rough estimate. Some people fall above or below the theory depending on technique, fiber composition, training background, or state of mental or physical preparedness. Due to the room for error I played on the side of caution and went for something less than the calculator said I was capable of. This brings me to my next point. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should....and conversely just because you don't do something doesn't mean that you can't. Over time you will know where you fall on different lifts relative to the theory. Deadlift numbers can be skewed as it is a "concentric/eccentric" lift rather than an "eccentric/concentric" lift. Basically you lift it then lower it, rather than lower it then lift it as in a bench or a squat. If you let the weight free fall to the ground without controlling it then it is effectively a concentric only lift and therefore theory numbers would be skewed because you would be expending less energy with each rep and you would over perform on reps relative to what your true max capacity is. The theory can roughly (within 1% of the actual numbers) be rounded as such
*"rm" is rep max or greatest weight you can handle for that number of full reps with no help.

90%-4rm
87.5%-5rm
85%-6rm
82.5%-7rm
80%-8rm
77.5%-9rm
75%-10rm
~66.66%-15rm
~50%-~30rm

The farther away from 1 you go, the rougher the estimates become. Multiply your max by each coefficient and try to match the numbers. See what rep ranges you are weak in and work them more.

Started the academy with my good friend and camera man @exzellion this week. Posts are going to slow down for a bit but very fortunate for this opportunity, as most of my friends know I was working on an ambulance for a while and working part time at a different department. Finally got the opportunity to get my full time position as a firefighter, of course knowing my journey in the ambulance doesn’t end here I plan to start paramedic school next year in January I look forward to see what the next few months have in store for me and carry it with me wherever I go. I remember when I first started this journey doing ride alongs at city eventually went to school and went through a lot of obstacles and battles to get where I am today although for some it was obtained a lot easier I know it was a challenge for me to make me better as a person. With that being said , don’t ever give up everything takes time be persistent and walk with a purpose. It’ll all come back repaid.
