I made this top from leftover fabric of the circle skirt I recently made.. There was enough fabric for me to make a test version of the bodice parts of dress/jumpsuit pattern from 05/2018 #burdastyle .. I redrafted that bodice pattern because I want to use it for the button down dress.. I also changed the width of the straps, because I love the spaghetti ones more I'm satisfied with my redraft, but I have to fix those cups.. I don't know why burda patterns have those strange pointy cups.. I had the same problem with some other patterns I tried before.. Now all that's left is to put snaps and this top is ready to wear #sewingleftovers#sewingaddict#sewingblogger#sewersofinstagram#memadeeveryday#handmadewardrobe#burdastylegermany#memade#isew#imademyclothes
What women wear: Amantenango, Chiapas, Mexico.
The younger women in this village wear lacy, heavily embroidered blouses replete with flouncy frills that Princess Diana (c 1981) would go mad for.
Aprons, in a dizzying array of colours, crafted on sewing machines, are the "bee knees" and are worn over the blusas.
Esperanza is a master sculptress and seamstress her village.
What is she making?
Morning all! Light streaming through the windows today I’m drinking lots of coffee, listening to musicals* and making my gal a summery dress
* Current fave = 42nd Street. Husband can’t bear a musical, but based on bea’s response to Mary Poppins I reckon I’ll have a little pal doing jazz hands with me soon enough #sewing#handmadewardrobe#imakemykidsclothes#mondayfunday
One of my favorite times to sew is right before a trip so I can have a few new things to wear. I love this #mamaquinn pattern by @madeformermaids because it’s a super quick sew and makes the perfect #swimcoverup I actually managed to whip up 2 in 2 days and I see many more in my future! I used this sheer chiffon palm and floral print from hobby lobby and I’m loving the way it looks on top of a black swim suit!

Gone a little bit Dorothy for today's#ootd -this was an old pattern of my mum's which I think came from a magazine or mail order collection, it was made for knits, but I made it in a gingham georgette as the weight of the skirt always pulled down jersey versions! I added an invisible zip in the side seam and the button placket is sewn closed. I don't know how clear it is on the photos but the buttons are tiny hearts!
Swipe for the outtakes featuring Paul the cat who thought the skirt hem was a toy!
Back stitches on silk shantung. They're used in haute couture to apply an invisible zipper by hand on a garment. As you can see, the stitches are very tiny and barely visible but very strong.
This is one of the small detail you can use to recognize a high quality handmade piece

Casted on a chunky-yet-funky sweater: big yarn, big needles, big as in roomy... It's a big bitch.
A lovely and much-needed change after the lace-weight shawl. Pattern is #lemongrasssweater by @jojilocat.
Since hubby was away for a few day I got some crafting done
1. #inariteedress by #namedclothing in a mint-grey linen (best dress pattern ever!)
2. #fraufrida t-Shirt by #fritzischnittreif
3. #hintofsummer by #isabellkraemer all made out of scrap yarn. Very happy about finishing this special project as my first attempt got stolen by the awful muggery in Johannesburg ... but since I am not short on scraps I managed to do it again
Step 7: Sleeves
Step 8: Re-fit side seams
Step 9: Curved hem
Step 10: Final press
Can you see the selvage peaking out from the centre back seam? 🧐
Pattern: DIY + Madewell Scout Tee variation neckline
Fabric: Stretch cotton // Atex Fabrics
