Ballpark #3 on my “30 MLB Ballpark Tour”: Dodger Stadium! So incredibly happy I was able to fly out to California to be able to see this historic ballpark in person! It’s also the same exact ballpark that the orioles beat the dodgers in the 1966 World Series 😉. Next stop on my tour: Angels Stadium of Anaheim! @dodgers #dodgers #dodgerstadium #california #letsgododgers #historic #30mlbballparks #tour

Went to visit the 1856 Whaley House in Old Town — reputed to be the most haunted house in America. I didn't see any ghosts. Do you?
1) The hallway was painted with faux oaks wood grain and faux marble ashlar block pattern popular at that time.

2) The former granary was leased to San Diego County in 1869 to be used as a courthouse.
3) A little table setting in the dining room

4) The ground floor was originally designed for use as a general store.

5) The parlor

6) Thomas & Anna Whaley's master bedroom

7) Thomas Whaley's students

8) Guest bedroom
9) 1872 Verna House is adjacent to the Whaley House, separated by a row of California pepper trees planted by the Whaley children in 1870

10) The Derby-Pendleton House sits behind the Whaley House. It is an adobe and wood prefab house that was brought by ship from Maine in 1850.

Let’s all just take a few minutes and soak in this amazing picture. This a baseball team from #Tulsa in 1898. The team featured several of Tulsa’s early community leaders. There’s Arthur Perryman, the grandson of Tulsa’s founder, and Don Hagler who helped build a bridge across the #Arkansas #River near modern day 11th street. Oh and 1898 was the year Tulsa was incorporated as a city, so that’s kind of a big deal. .

A Brief (ish) history of Cathrine the Great, Empress of Russia-
Sophie Friederike Auguste von Anhalt-Zerbst was born on 2 May 1729 in Stettin, then part of Prussia (now Szczecin in Poland), the daughter of a minor German prince. In 1745, after being received into the Russian Orthodox Church, and changing her name to Catherine, she married Grand Duke Peter, grandson of Peter the Great and heir to the Russian throne.
The marriage was unhappy, but the couple did produce one son, Paul. In 1762 Catherine's husband became Tsar Peter III but he was soon overthrown with Catherine being declared empress. Peter was then killed shortly afterwards and it is not known whether Catherine had a part in his death. She subsequently had a series of lovers whom she promoted to high office, the most famous and successful of whom was Grigori Potemkin.
Catherine's major influences on her adopted country were in expanding Russia's borders and continuing the process of Westernisation begun by Peter the Great. During her reign she extended the Russian empire southwards and westwards, adding territories which included the Crimea, Belarus and Lithuania. Agreements with Prussia and Austria led to three partitions of Poland, in 1772, 1793, and 1795, extending Russia's borders well into central Europe.
Catherine began as a political and social reformer but gradually grew more conservative as she got older. In 1767 she convened the Legislative Commission to codify Russia's laws and in the process modernised Russian life. She presented the commission with her Nakaz, (or 'Instruction'), a strikingly liberal document that presented the empress’s vision of the ideal government. The commission produced no desired results and the outbreak of war against the Ottoman Empire in 1768 provided a good opportunity to disband it.
The Pugachev Rebellion of 1774-1775 gained huge support in Russia's western territories until it was extinguished by the Russian army. Catherine realised her heavy reliance on the nobility to control the country and instigated a series of reforms giving them greater control over their land and serfs. *continued in comments*

Colorized photo taken on October 1st, 1940 of the British Columbia Regiment marching down 8th Street at the Columbia Street Intersection in New Westminster, Canada. This is a heartwarming moment captured by the photographer Claude P. Dettloff of Warren “Whitey” Bernard running towards his father Private Jack Bernard while his mother and several other women say goodbye to their husbands, boyfriends, and sweethearts who are off to fight in the war.(Colorized by AYL) This was typical event for families and loved ones who had men who were off fighting in WW2. And as we celebrate this father’s day, it’s important to cherish and hold close moments like the one Warren Bernard his having with his father since in conflicts like WW2, there were untold numbers of fathers who did not come home and seeing those they loved. To the fathers to came home and the fathers who unfortunately didn’t as well as the families of this men, Happy Fathers Day! #fathersday #men #history #historiansunion #canada #westminster #son #children #holiday #military #soldier #veteran #british #mother #sacrifice #heroes #family #army #navy #marines #ww2 #war #battle #photography #art #color #american #historic #pictures #guns
