“When did our realities become so shameful?” – @chinaealexander
I did not create this account because I am an almighty, all knowing health, nutrition, fitness and wellness expert – I created this account because I had my own really frustrating journey.
And I was sick of the way so many influencers were doing social media at the time.
Encouraging really toxic, restrictive, obsessive mentalities. There was a lack of transparency, with all of these absolutely perfectly curated feeds.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think anyone should just always put their worst foot forward in the name of “authenticity”, and hey, a beautifully curated feed my guilty pleasure. Let’s be real, instagram is a visual platform.
But MY goal?
It was always to be as authentic and real with you guys as I could along the way.
So this is where I am now, versus where I’ve come from. Relatively put together, happy and grateful sometimes, and then other times really miserable, sick and overwhelmed.
The second shot was taken in the middle of the night, on the floor of my friend’s bathroom, before I was diagnosed with non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS). I was overwhelmingly nauseous. I had just thrown up a few times. I had no idea what was wrong with me. Because I was feeling so sick I was extremely sensitive to all sensory input (noise, smell, sound, touch...).
There was another episode when I was in Australia whereby I had to sleep on my cousins bathroom floor because I kept getting up to throw up. I threw up 22 times.
And of course this was accompanied by the most intense, painful stomach cramps.
Even excessive bleeding sometimes.
With this I’ve decided to challenge myself to a #WeekOfRealness and post at least 5 little reminders for you guys that we’re all just humans. We hurt. We poop. We get acne. We get weird skin things and rashes. We sleep on bathroom floors (for one reason or another...) We get sick, no matter how perfect our lifestyles and diets are. It’s all a journey, and we’re all in it together.
I’d love if you joined me for even one day in the #WeekOfRealness.
Let’s show others that they aren’t isolated.
