Let me open up and say off season is more difficult for me than prep. I am almost sure many others can relate. After a year of preparation for the Arnold, I am finally in a calorie surplus, trying to reset my caloric baseline and grow. I have also been a little bit more free with my diet, as it’s nice to loosen up. None of my clothes fit, I’m not striated anywhere, but my lifts are great, when I do train, and I’m never hungry. I have taken some of the 💯 I give to the gym and diet, and have been applying it to my relationships, my church, my career, my life, and it’s AMAZING! I never realized how much I sacrificed as I have been doing his so long, it almost seemed normal to never have get together a with my friends, to want to volunteer much on a day off, or to get to work an hour early because I’m actually rested. It’s true grace and I’m working on coping with physical changes, such as clothing getting tight, and chubby cheeks. This is normal and something I have to keep reminding myself. Yesterday I thought I was going to do a mini cut, but than I decided to just cut out the snacks and sugar and see if that is all I needed to FEEL healthier as that is my biggest issue currently. I need my body to work properly so I can function better in a prep. It’s when you jump back into a prep and have no where to go with your calories and cardio because you kept hem so high, you become miserable and unable to balance the gym and life. #tobecontinued

Uuuund da kommt auch schon der nächste Müsli-Post 😹👌 aber ich musste dringend nach dem Test der "gesunden" Hafer-Kissen von Kelloggs W.K. mal die "ungesunde" Alternative in Form der Schoko-Pillows von Crownfield probieren.
Ich war ja total begeistert von den Nougat-Pillows und hab mich dadurch sehr gefreut auf diese hier, da sie sich nicht allzusehr unterscheiden, nur dass diese hier halt nur ne dicke Schokofüllung haben anstatt ner Nougatfüllung. Auch diese Kissen sind recht groß, gut gefüllt und werden schön weich in der Milch, aber ich muss sagen die mit Nougat haben mir echt besser gefallen, einfach weil Nougat nich so'n bisschen das gewisse Etwas hat 🤷‍♀️ würd ich die große Packung kaufen? Ne, lieber die mit Nougat. Alles in allem gebe ich denen ne gute 7/10 👌 ich würde die hier trotzdem jederzeit den gesunden die ich von Kelloggs hab vorziehen, aber ich liebe Zucker halt abgöttisch, für mich darf es ruhig übersüß sein 🙄😹👌 Ich freue mich btw. Sometimes, when we think of "Carbohydrates" we may instantly think of pasta or bread. It was only a few years back, when I started to take an active interest in nutrition, that I was really, REALLY surprised to find that fruit is very high in carbs as well as those traditional things we think of as 'carbs'.

[But there is nothing wrong with that!]

When some people 'cut carbs' they may often reduce how much pasta, bread, rice, they eat but continue to eat lots of fruit.

Personally, I went on a low carb diet and lost 80lbs. I still ate fruit but ate more "superfood" fruits, such as berries, which are lower in carbs. For higher carb fruits like apples and bananas I would continue to eat them, but choose a smaller apple for example.

Fruit is an amazing source of nutrients and vitamins, with a ton of benefits. Also, with the type of carbs in fruit in comparison to pasta, there is a difference, with carbs in fruit being absorbed slower into our body, which can avoid bloody sugar level spikes.
⭐️But....I believe and hope that comparison posts like this can help knowing what is what! So that we can all make informed choices based on our dietary preferences and goals💪🏻

Muy posiblemente todo el mundo que se inicia en el mundo del entrenamiento o la nutrición, habrá escuchado acerca de los famosos quema grasas, o termogenicos como también los llaman.
Veamos qué son los ingredientes que suelen componerlos:
➰Cafeína: Sustancia estimulante y psicoactiva. No tiene ninguna relación con la quema de grasa, si no que se utiliza para las personas que en dietas muy restrictivas sufren la llamada termogenesis adaptativa (adaptación metabólica al poco alimento) y una disminución de la energía/ganas/esfuerzo realizado durante el día.
➰Extracto de pimienta negra: Ocurre exactamente lo mismo que con la cafeína; NO tiene relación directa comprobada con la perdida de grasa o peso, sí con la activación y estimulación.
➰Carnitina: Realmente se presenta en varias formas; la L-Carnitina y la Acetyl L-Carnitina las más conocidas. Nuestro cuerpo fabrica esta sustancia y se utiliza en el mecanismo de metabolización de grasas pero, siendo uno de los mayores mitos de la nutrición deportiva, su ingesta exógena no tiene ningún efecto sobre esta quema de grasas. Es una sustancia estimulante similar a la cafeína, sin efectos comprobados como lipolitico.
➰Garcinia Camboya: Planta que contiene en MUY pequeña medida HCA (ácido hidroxicítrico). Sobre esta sustancia, experimentado en humanos, hay pocos estudios y son poco concluyentes. Por lo tanto ninguna afirmación al respecto de la quema de grasas está científicamente fundada.
➰CLA: Ácido linoneico conjugado. Es una modificación del Omega 6. Existen numerosos estudios; uno de ellos concluyó que el uso de 3'2gr al día en humanos ayudaba, con una dieta correcta, a reducir el peso. Sin embargo, otros no han encontrado ningún efecto con la quema de grasas o reducción del peso.
➰Extracto de té verde: o ECGC. Funciona de manera similar a la cafeína; es estimulante y tiene propiedades antioxidantes entre otras, pero ninguna relación directa con la quema de grasas.

Weighed in this morning too and I’m another 1kg down, bringing my total loss to 7kg since starting the blitz. Not gonna lie those last 2kg have taken three times as long to come off as the first 5, which has been disheartening, but I’ve been way more relaxed about diet etc since ending the blitz, on purpose to try and make it a more sustainable lifestyle change. Just need to remember that even slow progress is still progress and I should still be happy! •

Love me a @kitkat especially a chunky so I wasn’t going to let this pass even if the latest Lemon Drizzle one was a pile of poop. This is made with ruby cocoa beans which give it its very eye pleasing colour, which in turn should give it a fruity berry flavour without any added ingredients... and boy does it!! 🍓 take a white chocolate KitKat and add in that sweet,slight tangyness strawberry flavour chocolate normally has and you’ve got yourself a ruby cocoa KitKat 💁🏼‍♀️.

Goes on holiday in three days... decides to make pasta... why am I so back to front 🤷🏻‍♀️ this was so worth the carbs before Marbs 🍝 Aubergine & Chickpea Pesto Pasta 🍆 life hack to lower carb pasta: load it with veggies & protein so you don’t need as much pasta to fill your plate 🍽️ recipe : 1/2 aubergine cut into cubes • 1/3 red onion • 1/2 carrot • a few cherry toms • handful of frozen peas • 3 tbsp chickpeas • 1 cup kale • 1 tbsp tomato purée • 1 clove garlic • fry light spray oil • juice of 1/2 lemon • 2 tsp reduces fat red Pesto • 1 tbsp Greek or soy yogurt • 1 tsp mixed Italian herbs... in a pan spray some fry light oil and add the chopped red onion, carrot & aubergine and cook until soft • boil the kettle and cook 50g pasta (I used wholewheat spelt fusilli) • add garlic, tomato purée & Italian herbs to the veg & cook for a further 5 mins • steam the kale (I do it in the microwave) • add the frozen peas & chickpeas to the pan & the kale at the very end.. when the pasta is cooked add the 2 tsp red pesto & 1 tbsp yogurt to the pasta then add the veggies and stir well 🍝 I added some chicken to help my three day doms 🙂

Tra l'altro con una percentuale di MCT molto alta rispetto ai grassi totali della giornata si resta in chetosi anche stando a 80-100g carbs al giorno.

After tasting the new Cadbury Picnic Bar last week I was like DAMN. I needed a well balanced meal today. As you can see this is pretty well balanced 👀 I mean look how good the chocolate is stacked on the ice cream and I didn’t fall 🤷‍♂️ WELL BALANCED AT ITS FINEST ✅

Early #throwbackthursday for some self accountability. This is a pic from 2016 although I was about a month back into a bulk (so Weighing around 230ish). So although not super lean like I was at the end of my cut, still decently lean and pretty full. My cut starts next week technically aka #dietstartstomorrow . But in all seriousness my goal is to achieve around this level of leanness in about 6 weeks from next week, except I hope to theoretically look better, with my goal being to weigh between 240-245 (I began my cut around mid 240s last time). From that point, I hope to push it to super lean status of ~230. I’m basically posting this for a goal and to give myself deadlines, it seems I can only work my best under pressure lol, so I need to give myself arbitrary deadlines to make sure I don’t half ass this.

Honestly, I think there's a direct correlation between how many tabs I have open on my computer and how distracted I can be. My husband always yells at me because I have 10238103 tabs open at a time but for some reason, I feel like if I don't leave them open I'll forget what I was doing. I want to talk about the 'all or nothing' attitude when people think about fitness and eating well 🥝🌽🏋️️‍♀️ I used to feel like this - if I couldn't get to the gym for two hours, I wouldn't go at all. If I couldn't fit in all the sessions I wanted in a week, I wouldn't do any of them. If I had one chocolate I'd just think 'f**k it, I'll have all of them, I've already ruined my progress'. I've learnt that with health and fitness, even the little things are important. That extra 20 minutes walk you fit in, or a 30 minute gym session, just having 1 chocolate if I want and not worrying about it affecting my progress. It's not all or nothing. It's - the little things add up. It's realising - I cant do everything but I must not do nothing 💪 .

📝 A few notes about protein (NOTE-eins?):

✅ A good amount of foods have protein in them, but the crucial aspect in achieving your optimal intake is in consuming foods with especially high amounts of it, but with lower amounts of other macros ⬇️

👉🏼 For example, lean chicken usually has somewhere around 20g of protein per 3-4 oz, typically with no carbs and very little fat...

🙌🏼 Almonds are also somewhat high in protein. BUT, would I substitute chicken in my meal with almonds because of that reason? 🤔

👎🏼 Probably not, because not only are they not as high in protein, but they're also extremely high in fat, making them less ideal, since I'd rather use those calories on other foods 🍩

💯 The idea of this chart, which is not ALL-inclusive, but definitely provides some solid options, is to show you how wide of a range you really have in choices for protein, assuming you take all of their total calories/macros into consideration before eating them.

It’s really pretty simple ~ I just whacked everything into a pan, added ~200ml water mixed with a vegetable stock cube, and let it simmer for about 30-40min until the liquid had reduced 🤷🏼‍♀️ Nothing fancy here 😂 ➖➖

Afgelopen week was een drukke week met snelle en simpele maaltijden. Vandaag heb ik dus wat extra tiid genomen om mijn lunch te maken; een broodje met 2 gebakken eitjes, champignons en rode ui. Daarnaast een paar cherry tomaatjes, radijs en schijfjes komkommer. Voedzaam en vullend plus het voorkomt dat ik rond de klok van 3 uur wil gaan snaaien 👍🏻
