• Oats .. How good are oats! Today I made cinnamon oats with Chia, flax, and grilled banana
I make mine on milk for added protein, creaminess and calcium.
Oats are a great wholegrain source of nutrients including B vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fibre.
In terms of fibre, oats contain a specific type of soluble fibre called beta glucan which we know is great for lowering cholesterol. It works by acting like a sponge in the small intestine, binding cholesterol so it can't be reabsorbed.
Have you heard of Avenanthramides though ♀️
That long word which I shall not retype, is a unique type of plant micronutrients found in oats. Research shows they exhibit antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antihistamine properties.
Not only is it beneficial to consume, many skin products contain the benefits of colloidal oatmeal for this exact reason e.g. treatments for eczema and dry skin.
Try flavouring your oats with:
- fruits that cook well such as banana, berries, pear etc. - nuts
- seeds - spices like cinnamon
