Today I sat for some time in meditation, the quiet time before family and householder life begins, and contemplated how to act, and react, to the atrocities happening in the USA where beautiful families are being separated due to a certain racist bigot and his cronies. Children involved, I'm speaking out. So this time we take in meditation helps us process (differently than sleeping on it) and then we can act from Loving Awareness in our subsequent choices. .
We need strong nervous systems, that way all our thoughts, decisions, political decisions (including every purchase you make) - can come across in what we stand for in our daily lives. . We do care, if we think of our natural state, especially after meditation, it is Loving Awareness. That can only happen once we are in a strong, stable, grounded state within ourselves, which is why meditation works, it brings your closer to your truth. These people are just so departed from them- SELVES, that they allow hate and fear take over rational, loving actions. . .
If you find devotional meditation in your life, fear subsides. As Ram Dass says: "I am Loving Awareness".. Through recognising ourselves as part of systems that influence other systems, and that each system on the planet is connected, we move from thinking that what we do doesn't matter, to realising that our actions have consequences and are meaningful. Many of the ripples of our actions are beyond our awareness. Each small action we take is part of a bigger story. Whenever we do something or act in a certain way we can ask ourselves what is it part of? Good actions, and not so good actions have the same ripple... (Pic: Logan Lemmon). PS ...
