The three kinds of interviews I experienced were MMI, group, and one-on-one.
Multiple mini interviews (MMI) is a set of small interviews, usually six to ten, to test an individual’s knowledge, communication, ethics, and skills set. Many find this the least intimidating because an individual has many opportunities to show their strengths instead of just one.
Group interviews are done with the entire, or part of, the interviewing group. The faculty in my case just had each of interviewee describe themselves and how they’ve prepared for PA school. The key to this interview is to not be intimidated by your peers. Just keep in mind you’ve all been selected so you’re all on equal playing grounds.
One-on-one interviews is exactly that: one faculty member interviewing one potential PA student. I honestly felt this was the least intimidating. It gave me enough time to show my strengths and explain why I would be a great addition to their program.
