Great to have the Penley family aboard GOOD DAY yesterday for some Offshore fishing in Quepos to celebrate Walkers Birthday!
The trip got off to a Flyer when the birthday boy hooked a Wahoo in the first 5 minutes of the day. We will have to call that one catch & release as the fish threw the hook alongside the boat!
The guys enjoyed a great day with plenty of action catching:
1 Blue Marlin, 12 Dorado & a Tuna Mackerel for Mike, Jamie, Joe & Mike today aboard GOOD DAY fishing in Costa Rica out of the Marina Pez Vela, Quepos.
The guys were already having a great day enjoying the Dorado action but when a Blue Marlin came along & ate our 9” Deadly Tide Lure, it made for an amazing day. Joe caught the biggest fish of his life so far (180-200lbs) when he tagged & released his first Blue Marlin.
Another great day on the water - Roosterfish hunting tomorrow!
We had some nice bottom fishing aboard GOOD DAY this week catching Grouper, Tilefish, Splittail Bass, Grunts & Devil Fish. Still plenty of Dorado out there and we caught at least 10 working a current line.
Great to have the Colton family from Florida aboard, thank you for fishing with us guys!
Plenty of Dorados aboard GOOD DAY for Jim, Alex & Chandler from Alabama this week.
Some nice Wahoo being caught on the Reef but we could not find one unfortunately & lots of green water out there today made the Billfishing tough with just one Sailfish raised for us.
Back out there tomorrow!
Tyler & Brooke from Michigan are visiting Costa Rica to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary & fantastic to have them join us aboard GOOD DAY yesterday fishing in Costa Rica.
After many years of trying, Brooke finally got her first Sailfish under her belt which she caught on a live bonito at Furuno Bank. We raised 2 other Sails whilst trolling but missed out on the hookups. The day ended on a high as we encountered a nice current line on the way home and caught a ton of small Dorados.
Day 2 for Tyler & Brooke tomorrow!
We were back at it today after a nice few days off & it was great to have Chris, David, John & Bart from Minnesota aboard GOOD DAY Fishing in Costa Rica.
The day started excellent when we found a 40 foot tree floating 10 miles Offshore and the guys had some fun catching 7 small Dorado on the Spinning Rods & pulling the hook on a bigger fish.
28 miles Offshore we added a Sailfish to the tally before we got the radio call that there were Tuna a bit further Offshore. There was surface action all around us with Blue Runner & Caballa baitfish getting smashed by the Tuna school. We caught 4 Tuna pretty quickly & then resumed the Billfish hunt to look for a Marlin to try and put the silver lining on an already incredible day. Our Marlin was not to be but the guys had a blast ending up with:
Great to have Tobey, Gary & Tori from Massachusetts aboard, the guys caught a couple of nice Roosterfish which we tagged for Gray FishTag Research, aswell as a Mackerel, Big eyed Jack & a couple of Needlefish.
Some nice Roosters out there this week and Offshore there have been Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Tuna & Dorado!
2 Roosterfish, 10 small Dorados & a couple of Inshore Marlin (Needlefish) aboard GOOD DAY today.
The highlight of the day was when Didier fought a huge Roosterfish for an hour, it was an epic fight and we estimated the fish at around 80lbs, perhaps our 3rd largest Rooster in the last couple of years. Unfortunately no great photos as the leader broke at the net!
We had some good top water action with plenty of Barracuda, Mackerel, Bonitos, Needlefish & Dorado chasing down our lures.
That brings to an end a great few days with Didier, the memories of our 3 Blue Marlin yesterday will stay with us for a while!
