About once a month we try to take a canoe trip down the river where we live to pick up all the gunk that people carelessly throw there. Today was exceptionally eye opening because we found a tire, a planter, a chair, and a bucket along with countless pop and beer cans. The temps reached about 90 here so the river was busier than usual and there were plenty of other boaters, kayakers, and tubers. As we are canoeing along we got numerous weird looks (seeing we were canoeing with all this trash) not one person stopped to ask what it was and I didn’t see anyone else trying to keep our waters clean. If we all started taking small steps to keep the pollution to a minimum/non-existent, these waters would be much more enjoyable.
