Want to be happy? Try giving. Who said money can't buy happiness? The man was a disabled veteran. My last donation was for a nurse whose card got declined getting gas. I wanted to meet her but I was too shy so I paid for her gas and booked lol. @iansmith1055 remembers

Here's another one from a little while back. Now that I have my 200-500mm lens back, I really need to go visit them again soon. If they havent flown off yet anyway. Unfotunately the weather has been less than ideal lately.

It is okay to not feel okay⠀
Life is hard sometimes!⠀
But remember you’re never alone⠀
We’re all here⠀
& above all⠀
Never take anything for granted⠀
:•••:⠀
Emotional journeys are a part of human life — we feel good and then we feel bad. We have great days and sad days. I just hope we all know it’s OKAY to sometimes not be okay.⠀
The positive encouragement that can be found everywhere in media is awesome, but it’s important to remember that life isn’t about being happy all the time.⠀
Sometimes it’s feeling unsure, broken, sad for no reason (or happy for no reason). There’s a lot we can do to harness life as fervently as we can (practice gratitude, mindfulness, prioritize the values we truly care about). But at the end of the day nothing will ever be perfect. There’s a reason why people say “life is never like the movies”.⠀
But there are moments, and I think that’s what makes it worthwhile. Nostalgia, joy, connection, belonging. The moments where we have these things - these moments do feel like the movies.⠀
It’s why I take photographs. We get to see what we’ve lived. Remember what we’re grateful for. Feel all the joy inside and out. A part of us, a part of them, a part of a place and another time. We remember why we’re excited to continue making them, these moments.⠀
Seeing all these memories reminds me how much life is out there. How much life is in us. Sure, we’ll feel not okay sometimes. But look! Look around. The opposite is also true. A lot of the times, we’ll feel more than okay.⠀
It’s a long, big, windy road that we’re all on together.⠀

I got a bit excited when I saw this lake, even tho I have no idea what its name is.
For a geology nerd like me, the near perfect terminal moraine at the end of the lake (right of pic) was almost too much.
I'm just a bit disappointed with the lens flare. Some people love it, but I hate it. I really should put that lens hood on!
But back to the terminal moraine... which is so perfect it looks like a man-made dam. It does form a dam, but one made by a glacier not by people. As the glacier reaches the point where it melts, it drops the rocks it's been pushing along and these form the terminal moraine which becomes a dam, which the water builds up behind to form the glacial lake.
It's like that old saying: 'The rain in Spain can't drain past the moraine'.
Ok, clearly I did better at geology than I did at English literature.

“From the Mountains...”
........ Just thought I’d show off this picturesque, cozy little city’s landscape this morning via drone....Been here for a few months and still somewhat in awe sometimes when I see the mountains shaping this city....Happy Monday....!!

The Yellow Crab (Johngarthia lagostoma)is endemic to four oceanic islands of the Atlantic: Ascension, Trindade, Atol das Rocas and Fernando de Noronha. Despite mostly terrestrial along its life cycle, Yellow Crabs retain a marine planktotrophic larval phase, meaning that adults must migrate towards the sea to spawn. Females carrying ripe eggs enter the water briefly at night, agitate the egg mass, the eggs hatch and the larvae swim away. The larvae undergo its development in the water mass, lasting 30 days or more, before surviving "Megalops" return to the coast, migrating inland into fully terrestrial habitats. Yellow crabs show a major annual event of migration for breeding and spawning during the rainy seasons. Te migration towards the coast exposes crabs to natural predators.  Direct exploitation of crab populations for food by humans and the introduction of crab predators/competitors, such as rats and pigs, also pose a risk to populations of the yellow crab. The Yellow Crab is considered as ‘Endangered’ in Brazil, due to its limited distribution, loss/degradation of habitat and human disturbance.

"The small Trindade Island is situated in the South Atlantic Ocean approximately at the parallel of Vitória, Espírito Santo, and 1,140 km far from the coast. It is the eroded top of a big volcanic mountain that is part of an alignment of volcanic submarine mountains. It rests on the ocean floor approximately 5,500 m deep. The relief is extremely irregular for an island area of 13,5 km², where three peaks as high as 600 m stand out. The rocks comprise sodium-rich and silica-subsatured lavas and intrusions, as well as several pyroclastic rocks. Alga reefs, narrow beaches and, very locally, dunes, small fluvial deposits on the coast, several cones and slope aprons are everything that exists in this island almost totally composed of volcanic and subvolcanic rocks formed between the end of Pliocene and Holocene. It is the only place in the Brazilian territory where part of a volcanic cone is still recognizable." Almeida,F.F.M. 2000. The Island of Trindade. HORNY Landscape!
Earth and sky, woods and fields, lakes and rivers, the mountain and the sea, are excellent schoolmasters, and teach some of us more than we can ever learn from books.
