Here is a throwback pic for all the moms who are back on duty starting today! I don’t know about you, but getting settled into a summer schedule is a little tricky! If it’s not tricky for you, then don’t judge me. I can get 25 students settled within three minutes of entering my classroom, take attendance, lunch count and put up a daily schedule. My own children you ask? I already had to call to see what time J’s camp starts. Yes I did register him personally. I called and said, “I’m so sorry to bother you, but does camp start at 9 or 9:30?” The response? “9:15”. I think they made that time up just to shake me on my first day back on Mom Duty. Well that was only the beginning. There we were, my son and I driving to camp after leaving at precisely 9:08 to get there at 9:10 for our 9:15 start, singing and dancing to the radio when I heard a crunch from the back seat and an exclamation of, “Best day ever!” There he was eating a bag of Doritos. I have not bought Doritos in months, so there is the first problem. He did not ask for assistance opening the bag, which is the second and more disturbing problem. How old were those? But the big kahuna mother of the year moment was when I scanned the morning and realized I had not fed the child. My point is, to the moms and dads and Aunt Reenies and grandparents who do this on a daily basis, I tip my hat to you. Re-entering this aspect of life is not easy, but I think I’ll be ok after a few days, or weeks, or by the end of August. Tomorrow is a new day and we will insert breakfast into the routine. What are your mother of the year stories? Be honest. #momlife #motheroftheyear #backonduty #whoneedstoeat #summergrind #momblog #dontjudge #shareyourstoriestomakemefeelbetter #lovemykids #mother%*#^!
