I've been kind of at a loss on what to say for Earth Day today. The last few days I've spent in rural Iceland, exploring every last waterfall, beach, glacier, cliff I can find. And I realized more than ever before, we take our planet for granted.
We damage nature in a way that will never be restored. We take advantage of these beautiful places, go off paths we shouldn't have, and all for what?
I visited this country less than two years ago, and the difference between then and now is astounding. Now, every major landmark has signs, ropes, closed off areas from people going off the designated pathways, resulting in irreversible damage. If this is how it looks in less than two years time, what will it be like in 5, 10, 20 years?
Think about the impact you're making on our planet. This is the only one we've got. Leave no trace, stay on the paths, don't litter, respect nature in all its beauty so we can continue to enjoy it.
