Quinoa (pronounced - “keen-wah”)
Is a relative of spinach, beets, and chard.
It is actually a seed and not a grain or grass.
Quinoa is an excellent source of protein with all the amino acids found in animal protein. 100 grams of quinoa contains 13 grams of protein.
It is also a great source of fiber, iron + copper (together enables red blood cells to form), thiamin (healthy muscles and heart), vitamin B6 (supports immune and nervous system), magnesium (strong bones), phosphorus (supports kidney function), manganese (essential for the metabolization of carbs, protein, and cholesterol), and folate (cell production).
